Finally putting my order in tomorrow
First post!
After many years of reading the site and wondering if I'd ever pull the trigger it is finally time. I have been on many test drives and even taken one home to make sure it fits in the garage. I'm sure that we will know what the Gen 6 car will look like by the end of the year but Gen 5 is what I want and will keep for a long time. I'd like to thank everyone on the site for the info I have taken in over the past couple years. In college I had an 87 Firebird that I had to get rid of because I could not make it to work during the winter. I really miss that car. This purchase will be a 3 season DD for me and the wife will drive it from time to time, which is the reason I have to get an automatic-better than not getting one at all. Here is what I'm ordering: 2LT, RS, NPP, Polished Aluminum Wheels, Strut Tower Brace, NAV, Compact Spare and Automatic. Color is killing me...and will be a "game time decision" of either Black or Red Hot with Black Rally Stripes. There are two things I'm looking for help on. First are door sill plates. I noticed that my shoes hit the paint easily when getting in/out of the car. The dealer said they could install some but I wanted to see if anyone went after market on this. Second, does anyone have a pic of the embroidered center console lid option? I don't want to get this if it is in a spot where it will get dirty from elbows leaning against the console. Thanks in advance for your help. |

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Thanks for the welcome. I did a search on the embroidered console lid and they look pretty cool but I'm sure I would get the stiching dirty quickly so I'm passing on that option. Probably going with black paint...I think.

"Welcome to the party, Pal!!"
Black is awesome when it is clean, but it gets dirty FAST.... I agree with you on the console, a friend of mine got it, and wished he hadn't afterwards.

Thanks, I did order black. Made my decision when I got to the dealer. I parked right next to a black LS that someone had just taken on a test drive. I walked around that car and right into the dealership saying myself man that is a beautiful car!
And now the 6-8 week wait begins. |
