I beveled the edges and put a slice down the pad about 3/4 of the way through and gave the surface a quick pass with some 80grit paper just to rough them up. Put over 4000kms on them since then and never a single peep from them since.

did you guys that are havnig brake noise "seat" your brakes in when new? Seat is several very had decellerations (NOT STOPS) from like 60-10. DO NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO STOP. This would make a spot where the heat is concentrated on the rotor. Just get up to speed then slow down very quickly several times. This will allow the brake pads to seat in with rotors. (causes warp) It should have been done as soon as you got the car. If you didn't do it, you will have some squeeling. Go out and try it now. It "should" eliminate the issue. On the other hand the brembos are noisy and dirty by nature. Next time you complain about the dust and the noise, ask yourself this... "how do they stop the car" I don't know about you but I think they are AMAZING. After 3 months I still find myself over pressing the pedal as they are so much better than the brakes on the C6 were. (non-Z51)

bevelling the edge may help but what a pain in the ass.

A friend of mine had this problem with his car, it may or may not be your problem, but the brake pad assembly had a clip or something messed up on it which was rubbing the rotor, and the only way to fix it was buy new hardware.

I have slammed my brakes a few times (i'm gonna try that again) to seed them and still a sqeak. I will let you know if I hear an improvement after slamming them again today (it was rainy the last few days).
I tried the slamming the brakes trick and it didnt work. And I have over 4,000 miles on mine and its not any better (granted i changed brake pads but I had the originals for over 3,000 of those miles). And for whoever asked, yes mine has the weights, but when the dealership called they said adding or subtracting a few wouldnt help.

I have this problem with my 2LT when Its cold. I live around Pittsburgh, PA, so its already below 50* here. So when i'm backing out of my garage i hear it, but once i get moving, no problems. But it does sound like its the same kind of squeal.

Not a new problem. I have had the same issue but it seems to get better with time (have a little over 5k on mine). Dealer gave me the same high performance break speech. Planning to seat my breaks to see if it does anything. Not a huge issue just annoying.

Mine squeal also under lite braking but only when the car has not been washed with water for several days. Once I wash the car, wheels and brakes with water the noise goes away again until I get some brake dust buildup.

Weights Yes or No???

I had the calipers painted to match the vehcile body paint and while at it upgraded the rotors to a dimpled and slotted rotors with Hawk Ceramic Pads.

Is is necessary to replace the weights since they are just there for squeal???

Anyone know?

It depends. How is it driving. If it works fine and the noise in't annoying then your fine. If it doesn't feel right or it make horrible sounds all the time then you might want them.

Correct. Camaro owners noticed the weights when the car was first coming out. That's why they are there. GM was aware of the noise and used the weights to try to silence the squeel. There are related threads if those concerned search.
