Rx catch can

I put on a RX catch can shortly after I got my car (2010 ls3 ) Change oil once a year 2,500 miles on average. I check the can then but only a few drops come out.

This was with the last 3 oil changes so I called RX they said send it back the will fix or replace . In the mail tomorrow!

Now how do I clean intake from all the oil I did not catch. (Seafoam ? )

About 7,500 miles on car

I used seafoam before installing my CC and I seemed to work fine white smoke did come out but not much. I did the same on my 5.3l Silverado with over 100k miles and that one smoked like a train for a good 10min.

So, you've looked into the manifold and there is a lot of oil in there or your just thinking there might be? Only reason I ask is maybe your engine doesnt pull much oil through the catch can as other cars. I use the RX can and I usually only have a few oz after 5000 miles.

Did you actually look to see if all this is necessary first?

I drain mine every 3k miles and my RX can will barely fill the cap of a Mobil 1 oil bottle. I've taken off the throttle body before and it hardly had any oil in the intake.

No I did not look in the manifold . I don't think I got a 1/2 oz in three years or 6,000 miles
But I see others pulling 4 oz every 3,000
So I assume mine was not working.

Good luck with RX's promise to send you another can.

They promised to send me another check valve because I believed mine to be faulty, and it never came. Instead of spending more time on the phone, I just removed the valve -- no one I talked to seemed to think the valve necessary anyway for a NA car.

RX's customer service got a big thumbs down for that crap though.

unless your car spends a lot of time at high RPM I think these are a waste of time. After reading a lot on these, most street driven cars get a couple of oz. per oil change if any. Surely not enough to cause any issues. Just my .02

The V6s benefit from a catch can more than the V8s, due to their direct injection. Are you sure the nipple is fully closed, you shouldn't feel any suction while the engine is running.

Sun of a gun man. A 2010 SS with come great aftermarket mods with 7500K miles. That's amazing, these are the kind of cars to buy used. Unless those 7500K miles are all from the race track I wouldn't be worrying about oil in the intake. If those miles are just from cruising around on nice days, put the CC back on and don't worry about it. My car has 36K miles with no CC. The last time I looked into the intake it was clean. I will never use seafoam in my car.

In the OP's defense, catching oil is not the only thing he should be concerned about. If the can is stopped up or otherwise not allowing gases to flow through, then he is going to get a bunch of crankcase pressure. So, if he doesn't have faith the can is working properly, he should replace it or remove it entirely.

Hmmmm. I have an Apex cc. I empty ever 3000 or so. I catch probably 2-3 shot glasses full. I LOVE my cc.

Yes, you are right. Weather it's doing any good or not the CC needs to be installed correctly and working properly.

I don't see what the issue is here..
If you only drive 2500 miles a year, you can't expect to get much oil in the can.
It also depends on your driving.
If you constantly drive it hard, you are going to be getting much more oil. You won't get nearly as much if you are driving easy on it. Just my opinion.
