There is no such thing as to high (on these gauges), notice there is no red line on the high side. Anyway it will sit maxed out for a while and slowly settle in between 1/4-1/2 way.

Do not be concerned about how high it is on a cold start. There was a post on here a while back that someone had posted the bulletin about it that customers were concerned about the high pressures during start up. Believe it state that the customers should not be concerned about it and not to make any modifications as this is normal. I added the gauge package and noticed mine maxes out but once warm I believe it reads in the 30 PSI range when idling which is normal operating range.

Dean.

^ Gouge Package? I'm scared to ask...

About 70 on start up for me (v6), then it drops to less than 30.

Oil is thick when it is cold so on a good motor it will peg the gauge. The oil pump should have i pressure relief valve built in so it will bypass oil back to the pan whe oil pressure is to high.

I installed a 4 pack gauge cluster in my ls. I notice mine even after warmed up, will still stay at 70 psi while driving. If I stop at a light, it drops to 30 psi, but once I hit the gas at all, it jumps right back up to full 70 psi and stays there. I've been told this is normal for LFX engines.

High oil pressure isn't going to ever be a problem unless it causes leaks, or in the case of a car with a spin-on oil filter, which the LLT/LFX does not have, causes the oil filter to rupture (unlikely in any case).

These gauge clusters are slow to respond, maybe to install a aftermarket oil gauge, most all oil pumps have a relief system, like was stated from V6 LS

#PIP4690D: Normal Characteristic - High Oil Pressure Gauge Readings - (Oct 16, 2012)

Subject:Normal Characteristic - High Oil Pressure Gauge Readings

Models:2010 - 2013 Chevrolet Camaro
Equipped with 3.6L LLT or LFX Engines

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern

Some owners may comment that the oil pressure gauge is indicating that the engine appears to be operating with very high oil pressure.
Recommendation/Instructions

Under various engine operating conditions 60 psi (413 kpa.) of oil pressure may be displayed on the oil pressure gauge. This should be considered as normal operation. In addition, during a cold engine start-up (especially during cold ambient temperatures) the oil pressure gauge may display at 70 psi (482 kpa.) or all the way to the right. This condition should also be considered as normal operation. As the engine and oil warm up, the gauge should begin to return to approximately 60 psi (413 kpa.).
Important: Because these operating pressures are considered normal operation, no repair attempts or parts should be replaced.
Customer Information

Please communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. This condition will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle.
