Driving in the rain tonight and crazy stuttering

Ok, I just bought my 2010 Camaro 2lt rs approximately 6 months ago and I have had zero problems. I now have approximately 35,xxx miles on my car, have been doing all scheduled oil changes, i have an injen CAI, nothing crazy. I was driving tonight on the highway in the pouring rain. I slowed down to go though a toll booth, my CEL came on, and the car began stuttering terribly. I hit the gas and down shifted and the car would stutter more, i shifted up and the stutter continued. I began to slow down to pull over to the shoulder. There was no shoulder for about 2 miles so i drove very slowly until i could pull over. Just as the shoulder appeared, the CEL disappeared and the cars stuttering stopped. I have no idea what happened. I continued to finish my drive. I got in my car to leave the store and make my 30 minute drive home and had zero reoccurances. Does anyone know why this would have happened or better yet, if i should worry about it happening again? I figured maybe i hit a few puddles or something and some of the wired go wet, but i'm not positive. Any light on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

did it start to sound wierd, shake and did your rpms start to bounce? if so could be misfiring cylinders.

Do you have the long tube Ingen? I'm wondering if maybe a little moisture got into your intake. It shouldn't but who knows?

sounded exactly like misfiring cylinders and yes the long tube injen... i'm hoping it was a fluke and won't happen again... didn't know if this ever happened to anyone else.

These cars HATE moisture, I would say if it was raining like you said the air mix caused issue. May have hit water that got to the intake. That would have caused the cell from maf sensers / misfire. No expert but would be my best guess.

yeah my best guess is that the intake sucked up some water or something. Did you happen to see the code errors on the dash? That way you can find out what the car experienced

do you have the water shield on your injen filter?

I don't rain drive, but I've experienced what you're describing a couple of times after washing the car.

This would be my guess as well.

How is it now?

Water might of got into the filter if you have the long tube. Only thing i can think of other than like someone said before of a cyl misfiring, but that is odd. The rain was pretty bad this weekend so if you went through a huge puddle, the water could of got in your filter.

I had something similar happen to me. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine, and he said it was more likely the spark ignition system. Specifically, moisture gets into the electrical connectors at the top of the cylinder and causes the signal to be disrupted/delayed = misfires.

He said it happened to him on other vehicles. For me, it was an isolated incident; and, in my case, I had all of the cylinders on one side of the engine misfire at some point.

Most likely you sucked some water into your engine from the intake straw. Its good you didn't suck too much and hydro-lock the engine!

On the bright side, sucking some water will help clean out some of your carbon build-up, so now's a great time to install a catch can!
