HID Fog light pics: SS/RS
Hey guys,
Friday last week we got a great opportunity to install a custom fog light setup on a Victory Red SS/RS. As you know, the fog lights on the optional RS package are actually daytime running lights. There is no switch or other means to turn them on or off on demand. This install included the wiring of a new switch inside the cab, installing the bulbs into the housings, mounting the ballasts and wiring the relay to power the HID kit. We also installed out 8000K HID headlight upgrade and show a comparison between stock and 8000K. Here are a few pictures: |

Is this legal as far as DOT is concerned? I like it, I'm just concerned about passing inspections and whatnot...

I doubt this is legal and I doubt it would pass any inspections.. The HID's are already bright enough..double the output and add two more equally as strong lights and this is definitely blinding..

Cool! Let's see a night picture from the inside looking through the windshield with both on.

What HID bulbs did you use in the DRL's of the RS? I was thinking of putting a set of bright LED's in mine but I think I'll but the HID's and put them on a independent switch. |

I thought foglights had to be yellow. Those are pretty bright for foglights....

looks pretty good. honestly i would have tossed 6000k hid's in the low beams just cause they got the same blue hue to them without loseing as much light output as the 8000k ones. the foglights tho are in need of retrofitting a custom projector in them this way ur not blinding the hell out of other drivers at night.
also 3000k hid fogs would have looked much nicer imo just cause its supposed to be like that allowing the light to break fog/rain/snow instead of reflecting. good job non the less btw what are the blub sizes. low beams ds2, and fogs h7?

I did 8000k HIDs in the fogs of my 2000 SS, and I can't turn them on at night without getting high beams flashed at me from about half of oncoming cars. They look great but end up throwing light everywhere. I also have 8000k in my low-beams, but I did that conversion "properly" with HID projectors.
I encourage anyone who's looking into putting HID bulbs in a non-HID housing to check out the forums at www.hidplanet.com |

I'm all for seeing as much ahead of me as possible, but I don't really want to:
A) blind everyone in front of me either in their mirrors, or B) blind someone coming at me on a two lane road and have 'em "head-on" me cause they were blinded.....
