Fritz Henderson confirms Camaro convertible for first quarter 2011, no Camaro sedan - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

GM conducts occassional Q&A sessions on its Fastlane blog. The most recent session was held this past Thursday with GM CEO Fritz Henderson. Two Camaro related questions were asked:

1) One participant inquired "Been patiently waiting for Camaro convertible. Best guesses are 2012 model in 1st quarter of 2011. With surging popularity of this model is there any chance of GM considering a push for earlier release?"

-- Fritz Henderson responded: "Good guess and no."

2) Another participant asked if GM is considering producing a direct competitor to the BMW M3 or a Camaro sedan.

-- Fritz Henderson responded that a Camaro sedan is not currently in the future plans, and that GM will continue to look for performance opportunies across its lineup, including in sedans.

They already have a 4 door performance sedan, the Pontiac G8! Oops, forgot, used to have a 4 door performance sedan! I don't see why GM wouldn't just take the Holden G8 and market it with a Chevy badge. It's a great car and it's target market was BMW M3 and 3 series performance cars.
