cant you just tap into the bottom fog light power? Inside the car you just push the button once and it turns on the bottom fog lights. That is how i want all 4 halos to turn on. I want it that way or to be on as the daytime running lights then it switch to regular lights at night.

if i wire to the parking lights what will turn the halos on and off? on a non RS camaro you can turn the bottom fog lights on with just pushing in. I guess the simple way would be to tap into that and remove the fog light so it does not overpower the halo color.

I guess I could do it with a switch but i want it to turn off with power so i dont leave em on

Hey Justin, Could you PM me with a price for these dual color? I have a RS/SS. Would they be cheaper at the fest?....I'll be there.

Thanks,

Ronnie

From here on in there are pretty detailed instructions from Oracle, you heat up the oven to 230( i heated mine up to 275 after a couple of rounds at 230) and stick a headlight in there, i suppose a heat gun would have worked just as well but i decided to follow instructions. Put it in there for 20 mins and the pop the tabs on the headlight lens and get a screw driver up under the lens with the plastic still soft. This was far easier said then done. It took me a lot of tries at 275, you have to push one side down pretty far to get the screw driver under there. Once the first edge is up it is pretty simple but i still reheated it several times after the first edge was up to aid in the process. After thats done you take out the old halo and install the new LED halo. You epoxy it in the housing, and i snipped the old halo wiring and connected it to the new ones to make it an easy fit back to the power wires. After the new halos are in its time to put your lenses back on your headlight. You use black silicon around the edges of the housing and then put the lens back on and hold it in place with vice grips for a reccommended 3-4 hours. Mine are an hour and a half into the silicon drying time. I hooked the lights up to test them before i sealed the lenses again and it is a pretty sight. I cant wait till they dry and i can see them at night. On to the fog light halos

why do these two headlights look like they have different mounting points? Is it the difference between halogen and HID's? I can't see them copletely mounting something differently because of different bulbs...

EDIT: sorry i guess the pictures didn't transfer with my quoting. check out posts #3 and #61

Amazing Writeup!

I think alot of us were on the fence about pulling the trigger on this DIY upgrade, but after seeing this tutorial I feel pretty confident about doing this now.

Again, much appreciated!

they are tucked in there a ways. You have to peel the inner wheel well back and shine a light in there. You'll see 2 of them and the 3rd is at the very top. There are also 2 10mm bolts behind the turn signal. 1 that you can see and one you can't. You need to unscrew the on you can't see. Just feel around and you'll find it.

FYI about these. I am doing them myself right now and just waiting on another reheating of one of the lamps. Make sure you put a towel or something thick like that on the grill of your oven otherwise the bars on the rack will melt away on the heat lamp. I first used a simple white shop towel that Costco sells in bulk and it still melted just a bit. Now I am using a much thicker bath towel folded over 4 times.

220.

A fire won't start. You don't touch the heating bars and it takes 451 degrees for paper to catch on fire which also means a towel needs to be around that temperature.

I use to be big into cooking and learned years ago when using silicon for baking is that you can not have the silicon directly on the rack. You need something in between, such as even a backing sheet. I just suggest not to use metal for this, maybe even glass/pyrex would probably be okay too.

Actually question. What gauge wiring is on the halos? I swear that when I talked to someone there a few days ago he said 8 but that is pretty big wiring. Maybe he said 18?
