New owner need advice
As most of you have probably already seen a thread similar to this. but im not very good navigating a forum for what i need help with so i figured id put out an SOS. I just purchased a 2010 camaro ss with 60k miles and i want to do a little bit of modding but keep the car my dd. I was thinking the borla atak exhaust, unsure wether to go axle back or full system? also wanted a CAI. very unsure what intake to choose and if i should get a tune with one. i was looking at the CAI brand and it requires a tune but what tuner do i get? was looking at doing heads as well but do i need a dyno run for that or will that tuner work? unsure of the mod path i should choose (headers, exhaust, cai, throttle body, cam?) deff dont have the money for a sc or turbo. also have a friend with a zex kit made for the camaro wants 450 bucks for it? any help would be appreciated.

1) If you have an automatic, probably the catback, otherwise the axleback. 2) CAI is a good intake. It does not require a tune. 3) There is no point in doing heads if you haven't done a camshaft. If you get a camshaft and heads, then yes, you will want to go get a dyno tune. 4) Mod path = CAI -> throttle body (if you want one) -> exhaust -> headers -> cam -> heads (if you want to) If you don't have the money for a turbo, then forget about spraying. You won't have the money to fix your blown motor. It can happen to the best. Lastly.... This is the method that I use to search this site. I find it superior to the built in search function. Type the following into google's search bar. This example is for headers. site:camaro5.com headers It will limit the results to this site, and get you on your way. Keep reading and mod your knowledge along with your car!

Best advice I can offer is this. Your best, easiest mods for the Camaro are long tube headers, a cold air intake and a dyno tune. Being a newbie or novice to the world of modification.........the best process is to do a lot of reading and asking of questions. Always take it slow and simple till you get you feet wet and understand what does what and how it affects everything else.

Since you have a 2010, IMHO get a vararam, 1 7/8's or 2" headers that fit your budget like kooks or Tsp's, catback or axle back of your choice (the sound you like the most), 25% under drive pulley and a custom dyno tune.
Then check in later and worry about a cam n heads.

1. decide on an intake personally it looks like cai is the best imo 2.longtube headers 1 7/8 to 3 catted if your planning on ever sc or forced induction go with 2 inch primaries to 3 catted then go with a 3inch cat back and a profesional tune dont mess with those handheld things as your only means of tuning that imho is your best way to get horsepower for the money 3. if your talking about cam shaft head plus all the stuff listed above your looking at around 6 - 7 grand installed i have an invoice from a very good shop that did the whole 9 yards and thats what it was but....... in all honesty if your going to drop 6 -7 grand on heads cam echaust intake header and all the other stuff that goes along with it you might be better off spending another 1500 and supercharge it and build around that .. dyno
Ok so i purchased the CAI intake and want to get headers but I live in Montana and I am not sure of any dyno companies around my area. I dont want to end up at some hillbilly trailer dyno and trust them that they know what their doing since i obviously dont. Anyone know of any trustworthy tuners in my area? also what throttle body should i be looking for?

wish i could help you with a well known tuner. i know that utah and that hippy state west of you have some. You might be a mail order tune candidate as much as i dislike the idea.
As others have said, intake and exhaust are first performance upgrades to hit. by exhaust i mean headers. you might like how the headers sound with the stock catback. cai is a great choice and does the intended job well. you might want to look at a scoop from adm or apex and a washer bottle relocate kit from rotofab or apex to maximise the cai intake. Happy modding and congrats on a fantastic car.
