Camaro towing capacity???

Friend if mine sent me this picture today about 10 miles north of me... First pic I've seen of a 5th gen with a trailer. Pretty sure I test drove this car about 6 months ago also if it's the one I think it is.

These cars are plenty capable of towing light loads, especially the V8 cars. I'd tow 1500 pounds with one provided the tongue weight was kept reasonable. Actually I swear one time someone found official numbers of 2K.

Who needs a suburban, just strap the kids to a leather couch, strap the couch to an 8ft trailer and take them to soccer practice, in style!! lol

These things could probably tow a lot, the brakes are huge compared to some trucks got more HP and Tq than some diesels and got a tranny stronger than some of 1 tons from the 70s and 80s. Just gotta find a decent hitch.

Only acceptable reason to tow anything with a Camaro is hauling a set of race wheels to and from the track. IMO anyways.

Draw-Tite makes a Class 1 hitch which is rated at 2000 lbs. But on Edmunds.com it lists the tow capacity for the V6 at 1000 with a disclaimer.

This reminds me of a freind that would haul a 24 foot open car hauler loaded up with about 7k lbs sometimes more behind his 1996 impala. Was not a problem for that little car. 200k miles later it shit out a transmission.

I do that. I have a trailer just like that. I have the best of both worlds, a nice fun car AND a 'truck' if you will. Its great for things you would otherwise have to call a buddy with a van. Anytime I need to go to Home Depot, I just hook it up in the early morning, get the stuff I need, get home, and then put my 'truck' up inside by the garage wall. Take out the hitch and put the black hitch cap in, back to cool. I also use the hitch for my bike rack or also a small cargo shelf.

Check out etrailer.com You just enter your make and model of car, and find all the stuff you need.

Just because something is possible, that does not make it logical.
