Car is fine, mistakes happen, but this wont cause any damagae.

I once had to leave my ebrake down overnight in my GTO and left the car in first so it wouldnt roll. Come 6am, sleepy me starts the car and the let the clutch out, the car jumps forward and smacks my S10. D'oh.

This is why I always park mine in gear, back up for the parking brake and build a habit to put it in neutral everytime I start it. Not to mention, you need to train yourself to always verify neutral before you let off the clutch...

No worries at all...

But making this mistake with an engine that is not broken in yet is not as cool

A hard lesson learned! You can bet I'll start doing that from now on.

Or I would just not think twice about as we have all done it and you have a 5yr/100K driveline warranty!

Wait, is this a Porsche GT-3 we're talking about?

Well...someone will appreciate that I loosened up their zl1 lol!!!!
What did the salesman say (assuming a salesman was riding with you)?

I was fortunate and didn't stall the car out on my test drive, despite having not drove a manual trans in over six years.

However, just recently I was in traffic at a stop light and put the car in first to ease up. Usually at a long light I just sit in neutral. Well, I got distracted and forgot I was still in first and dumped the clutch and killed the car right there, thinking I had it back in neutral to sit and wait...

It's Fine, but lesson learned. As a long time truck driver when I get in a Manual car or truck I put the clutch in then shake the shifter side to side to check i am in neutral before i start it. With big truck you don't need to press clutch to start and if its in a low gear it will start and begin to creep forward against the parking brake if its in gear.

Ok tough car and all, but do not park it and leave it in neutral. You are trusting an e-brake, That is not smart at all. Just make sure to always push in the clutch.
