Good in the twisties too
My be my motorcycle background, but I really wanted to know what she would do on some good twistie roads. So 3 days and 1100 miles later I know. Handles the curves very well. I drove some of my favorite motorcycle roads like Deal's Gap (318 curves in 11 miles), The Cherohala Skyway, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and The Big South Fork. Also TN highways: 68, 30, 52, 28, and 63. One fun weekend.

i've always wondered how it would handle my 'fun roads' compared to a street bike...i ride a sport bike myself and the car handels nicely compared to it

The Camaro does surprisingly well in the twisties... especially the long sweepers. However, as things start to get tighter the Camaro in stock format will start to push (understeer) and a sportbike (with a competent rider) will easily leave most cars in the dust.

There is no way it handles like a sprot bike or even as well as my Goldwing. But did have some fun pushing a Harley Dresser through The Dragons Tail.

Ok, will a V6 handle better in the curves than a V8?

Ummm NO, mostly because when in the curves the TQ comes into play and helps push you thru the curves and straighten you out. The V6 sucks as far as torque goes, plus the suspension is soft in the V6 and not setup like the V8s performance suspension.

I guess it's not better according to the experts here, but I think it's great in the curves which is fine with me.

? sports cars always handle better than bikes. Just watch any Nurburgring video - the sports cars are always bottlenecked by bikes on the corners.

You must be talking about a really light car (Lotus) against a really heavy bike (a Hardley or a Goldwing). I can see that. |

CA 58 and CA 33.
Some of the many curvy mountain roads out here. These cars can handle those roads. I'm about to start my 3,000 mile review on both, an automatic V6 and a manual SS. I'll have a section dedicated to suspension and handling. |

I think the camaro performs a lot better than it feels. As long as y ou are confident that the car still has a lot of grip and arnt afraid of what "feels" like understeer I performs well. The more you drive it the better it feels. Feel is very subjective for example I have driven a Mazda MX5 on the same roads as the Camaro and the Car just feels rock solid. The actual grip is a LOT less than the camaro but the car simply feels better.
Its nothing some suspension tweaks cant make better. |
