What is the insulation for? Transmission Dip Stick?

As the title says..can any one tell me what the insulation is for as shown in the picture? I've never seen insulation like this in any type of vehicle I've owned. Any one tell me??

Also can anyone tell me where the HELL the transmission dipstick is? I have a 2011 LT1 V6 auto. I feel like I'm a dweeb for not knowing where. Help a brother out?

The auto trans is a sealed unit, so no dip stick. You are to have the fluid changed at 60,000 miles, I did mine at 30,000, and I plan to have it done at 60,000. The insulation is for noise, the injectors on the 3.6 are load as hell.

I don't have any insulation like that under my intake (looks like fiberglass). Could it be that mice had moved in at some point??? Was the car stored for a period??? I'm only half joking about the mice, but that doesn't look right to me. I pulled a whopper of a fiberglass mouse nest out of the frame of my very dormant '66 Chevelle years ago. Looked a lot like that...

NEST

What you have there is a super nest (mice) you better get the source out pronto. With fall coming they are moving in early.Found signs of them nesting early last week in my garden implement shed.I keep decon all year round in the garage sheds,as I live in a rural setting.Lots of fields, woods, and water. If you are not careful they will chew your wiring.

I went out and scooped up the fiberglass or super nest and disposed of it. Used shop vac to suck any remaining in the back of throttle body that I couldn't see. My car is daily driver. Drive speeds anywhere from 25-80 daily. I live in the city. Picked car up this past may. Regardless, any and all of the "stuff" is now gone. It was basically a handful of it.

Picked the car up this past may. It was on dealer parking lot for about 4 months. Pulled em a few min ago. Was just a handful.

I also had mine changed at 30,000 miles and prob will do 60k as well.

Man that's crazy about the nest, I've never seen that before.

That's the craziest picture I have seen on this website.

I had the dealer change the tranny fluid at 35k.....and I will do it at 60k as well so probably in 2 years.

When you buy used you get some home brew. Probably for noise or help cooling most likely I don't see anyone else with this. Let's face it most have tried nontraditional ways to tweak thier car.

Thanks y'all. It really did look like fiberglass insulation, but a little looking like the blown in kind insulation. I've removed all of "it" and shop vac'ed all up. Will monitor to see if it comes back? I strongly doubt mice because I live in the city, have NEVER seen any mice round here. If I did, my dogs and fierce cat would take care of it for me. Thanks again y'all!
