What's with the side badges instead of rear?

Thanks to a friend of mine, he brought up a question I couldn't answer, though I wish I had known the answer.

"I see that every single car Chevrolet makes has the name of the car on the rear of it, yet the Camaros have it on the side. Why do you think that is? And who determines where the badges should be placed and why?"

Maybe the gods of this forum can answer the question. No "I don't know's" or the emoticon equivalent, please.

You're exactly right, it's not on the back of the car and I think it should be. On my 4th Generation (1994) Camaro there was a cut out groove that said: "Camaro" in the back. It was cool because you could get letters that were cut to fit in there so you could add color to your car in the back. Something like that would be neat for 5th Generation Camaro's, but they don't have it.

I think it looks good as is and it's retro 69. No camaro emblem on rear

You really don't need any badges IMO, if you don't know its a Camaro, then they probably think its a Mustang. LOL.

Does the obvious need to be told what it is?

Interesting opinon. Yet the Corvette has an iconic style that largely remains evolutionary and they still have badges on the car.

the side is a good place for this car because when you're stopped on the road next to it, you look over and want to know what type of beautiful car you're looking at. It makes sense to me. The car looks good from behind, but it is art from the side.

I like the Camaro on the sides, but the SS should have been in the centers where the bowties are and much bigger like the ones that sparks sells.

I like it this way... minimal but bold... like a Ferrari! They don't have model names at the back either!
