2014 Jeep Cherokee - Thoughts?
Based on pics, I didn't like the Jeep Cherokee. The front looks like an alien's exposed spine and made my skin crawl a bit.
But I got a chance to sit down in the trailhawk and I was thinking "Man, this is me!" The design in the black leather seats; red stitching; all the media connections; soft touch interior; dashboard layout; HVAC knobs. When I took a look at the outside, it didn't look so bad. The meatier tires made it look fierce. The top lamps being just the LED driving lamps is still slightly odd but I'm really digging it now. The pics don't do it justice. While I don't plan on off-roading, the trailhawk's look and interior is starting to be a must have as well as the V6. 3.2-liter V-6, 271 hp, 239 lb-ft Zero to 60 mph: 6.6 Transmission: 9-speed automatic with manual shifting mode Curb weight: 4100 lb Top speed: 115 mph MPG: 19/27 Questions for you guys: 1) What are you thoughts on the front end and the overall look. 2) Originally, I wouldn't go with Jeep as I question the quality. Since this is based on the Fiat platform shared by the Dodge dart, this may have a good quality build. Anyone with newer jeep experience? 3) Would you buy it? I'm thinking of doing it a year later when the depreciation causes the price to drop like a brick. Also, I haven't seen any on the road so it would be cool to own a unique vehicle. |

This vehicle does look better in person. I could see it as daily driver.

My opinion...I felt the styling on that thing was a joke when I first saw it.
Everything else looks great, and that interior is very sweet. I'd have no problem driving a Jeep...no problem at all. I feel the front end is less "hidious" now lol, but I still think its a fail. I've seen them on the road with the LED daytime running lights, and it actually looked pretty sweet.....since I couldn't see the other details of the front. If they had just done something different with those headlamps instead of making the DRLs the main focus and the headlamps a complete afterthought. I say if you really like the thing, don't mind the styling, and its what you need then go for it and never look back.

I didn't much care for it until I saw one in person. I actually kind of like it now. Personally, I like bigger trucks and SUVs, but I would definitely let the wife get one if she wanted one.

Like others have said that front end is pretty ugly looking. I would personally lease that for a couple of years. I don't trust the reliability of the jeep.

I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee that has been flawless. I have several friends with 09 and up trucks. They too flawless. Their quality is as good as anything else these days with some of the nicest interiors you can get in a truck or SUV.
My one buddy just bought a trail hawk Cherokee. It's very nice if you can get past the front end and the fact that it doesn't ride that good. |

The only one I would buy is the trailhawk cause it does look less Crossover than the other models and it is a nice interior as well but man it is pricey for the trailhawk.

A lot of people feel this way about Chrysler from there past history. Its fair but this is one company that has turned things around quickly.

The headlights we're definitely hit with the ugly stick. Get an extended warranty or lease it as I too question the brands reliability when the mileage gets up there. One of the many reasons why I leased my 1LE.
