How far to de-mod in order to trade at dealership?

Guys - help please!

Somewhat hypothetical since I'm not about to sell my baby, but what things would be better left on the car if part-exchanging at a dealership?

I'm thinking that the following would be okay to leave on the car:

ground effects:
  • front SLP lip, ACS (ZL1 type) side rockers

suspension/brakes:
  • sub-frame bushing inserts
  • front radial bushings
  • red callipers (not even sure if these can easily be painted to the original grey)

Things to definitely put back to stock:
Appearance:
  • Original wheels
  • return Chevrolet badges to their rightful places
  • remove any plasti-dip
  • Coliover suspension
  • Cold Air Intake
  • Throttle body intake
  • Engine/Exhaust mods
  • Lighting wiring harness
  • remove Curb Alert
Anything else to add to list (for example if I put a supercharger in to the car would it make sense to return the engine to stock before I part-ex it?)

Try to get it as stock as possible or the dealer may even hold your mods against you.

I think it would be much easier to leave the mods and drop the service writer a $100 bill.

I modded the hell out of my 2010 SS knowing full well if I ever traded I was going to eat the cost, and I did. It takes time to pull all that stuff off and then you have to deal with trying to sell, ship, etc. The only thing I pulled was my SS valve stem caps. Recouped $10, lol.

Oh and yes...if you spent $6k plus on a supercharger system I'd definitely take that sum gun off.

I don't understand why dealers don't like mods? I've seen some custom car jobs at dealers before and they jack the prices up on those too. modded cars are a different niche and there's no set guidelines on what a car is worth modded.

because they dont know if the mods were done right. Its harder to sell a modded car because people assume it was beat on.

A dealer wont give you any more for your mods... now they will sell it for a lot more with the mods. before trading i would test the waters on like a car soup to see if you can get more with the mods.

Yep, and I think most people would rather mod the car themselves.

When I'm shopping for a used car, I look for the most unmolested original I can find, even if I'm planning to mod it myself... would rather start fresh than with someone elses project.

Take off everything you can, you live in TX tons of C5's running around that could use your mods.
