Love bug situation?

Doing a trip on Friday from Naples to Orlando and would like to drive my Camaro. Figured I'd see what my fellow Floridians have to weigh in on what the love bug situation has been like on the highways lately? Has it gotten bad yet?

I drove from Venice to Ft Myers and it wasn't terrible but did run into a few pockets of them. Funny thing is I got more on my car at the drag strip last thurs!

I drove from Ocoee down to St. Cloud and back yesterday around 1pm and I had a total of 4 love bugs on my Malibu.

This year it seems to not have been to bad.

There out in the rural areas, I have been cleaning more of them off the car. A small price to pay, beats snow.

Does anyone know if the "Protector" paint treatment that the dealers offer really works? They tell me that Love Bugs wipe right off if you have this add-on.

I drove locally around 250 miles in the past week and not a single love bug on the car. I've seen some around but as others have mentioned it's not bad at all.

Just apply a couple of coats of a high grade wax. I use Adams with good results, most love bugs rinse off and the rest come off with a wet drier sheet. Don't spend your money on what is just some kind of wax or sealant.

Drove from Orlando area over to the west coast last Saturday and got clobbered! Seems to be patchy though. I hit very few driving from Tampa north last week (of course the rain helped).

It seemed like they weren't as bad this time. Still got a nice coating Saturday.
