EXHAUST SOUND

with the stock exhaust and now with a mbrp cat back system, around 2200 rpm when decelerating and downshifting the exhaust puts or slightly backfires- just wondered if they all do it- or a problem coming?

Mine did a similar thing before I pulled the fuses. You are new here as far as being a member so I'm not sure if you've followed the 'fuel table' issue. You may be having the issue. Mine is SCREAMING now and NO 'popping' (as I called it)

I started a thread on this. My 2SS/RS A6 with stock exhaust has a slight crackle/rumble when starting or accelerating. I like it, it sounds cool. Of the other SS vehicles I've heard, none have as good a sound as mine. I'll have mine checked at the 3,000 mile service.

Some aftermarket exhausts are more prone to this while others are not. For instance, Maganaflow makes a resonated x-pipe do help reduce this.

Hmmmmm, his is when decelerating as well. I know mine did on starting and decelerating. Wonder if he has an auto or stick.

OP..... Auto or Standard, tranny? (L99 or LS3)

Yup, but he said it did it before the exhaust as well.

Probably normal though.

Pulling the fuses apparently is for sluggish acceleration. That has nothing to do with loud/rumbeling exhaust per this thread. My L99 is quick as hell and I'm not touching a thing.

I agree. But he didn't say 'loud rumbleing exhaust,' he said 'puts' and 'slightly backfires'.

I agree with you that if it's the normal sound of the exhaust then it can be cool, but I don't want mine to be described as 'puts' and 'slight backfires'

I normaly stay out of threads like this because I haven't much knowledge and experience but he just described the exact noises mine was making that went away when I pulled the fuses.

I'm assuming he has an LS3 because he said 'he' was downshifting but you never know.

Exhaust systems

Which Exhaust system is the best sounding, I was thinking about getting the Borla agressive system, but I'm not sure which one sounds the best, I have listened to many of the systems on my computer, but I can't judge it that way, I want a system that is much louder than the stock system without putting headers on the car.

I will be pulling the trigger on getting the Borla cat back system soon, I think it has one of the deeper sounding systems from what I can tell, and getting big reviews from others that are already running them.
Just my .02

I wrote up a review of the Borla "S" type catback system take a look at it if you like.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39283

Exhaust really is a personal preference listen to as many of them as you can. For me I was looking for something with a deeper sound and the Borla fits perfectly with what I was after. MBRP and SLP Loudmouth II have a similar sound to the Borla if you don't quite like the Borlas. And others may want the Raspy sound of a Corsa, to each there own.

Good luck and let us know what you go with.
