LS3 vs. L99

Ive already ordered my car with the LS3 Manual, obviously. But what I wanna know is what everyone has been reading and figuring would be better about the L99 before the car is made I really wanna be sure I am getting the better of the options.

What I know:
L99 LS3
Auto Manual
400 Hp 422 Hp

L99 will have the Active Fuel Management. Along with that, it will have different tuning (I believe a different cam also) and a different exhaust note.

EDIT: BTW, the LS3 is rated at 426HP per the most recent update.

no real significant difference. if you want an auto get the l99, if you want the manual get an ls3. They are 99% the same, + a different transmission. so it all comes down to the personal preference.

Performance should be nearly identical.
And the L99 will give you one more mpg hwy.
But it's also a $995 option.

426 horse' for the LS3 now, but no biggie.

I think the LS3 is easier to modify because it's less complex. No AFM or VVT. No complaints about the exhaust sound going strange when in 4 cylinder mode or whatever. This is just what I've read.

I think the small difference in performance will be less than many people think. Shoot, that argument would change completely if a person would add a big stall to an auto'.

They are so equal that your best bet is to go with your gut. There are several threads discussing these engines already on the forums, so you may want to do a search to get the most answers.

Just hoping that the L99 doesn't impede my hopes of adding either a supercharger or a turbo sometime in the future...

Appears the difference is even less than it seemed a short while ago with the latest torque figures being 410(bumped from 395) - L99 and 420 - LS3.

And you get remote start with the 2LT and 2SS with auto trans - 1LT also if the C&C Package (SRJ) is ordered.

How would Active Fuel Management play with a supercharger or a turbo? Could there be a problem with that combination?

Just curious. I'm going with an LS3 on mine, no questions.
