Are you thinking of intalling the 3M Simulated Carbon Fiber stripe?

For anyone thinking about installing the 3M simulated Carbon Fiber vinyl striping on your car with the Exposed Weave Insert, here is a pic of what it looks like. This was taken at the Milwaukee Car Show, and was on a late model Camaro (Bumble Bee?). Note--I am assuming that this was the 3M product.

In my opinion it is difficult to tell if it would be a good match to the high-gloss finish of the Exposed Carbon Fiber insert, because the 3M product has a dull look with the actual 'grain' of the fiber feel to it. Also, we can't tell if the weave patterns will match. I haven't done any research to see if there is a glossy version of this product. But if there is, and the weave pattern matches, it might be the way to go.

Curious to see the first installation next to the real thing.

I don't think I would ever mix fake carbon fiber with real carbon fibre.
Or even fake carbon fibre from two different brands, but I'm super anal like that.

Yes there are several weave patterns, gloss and flat. I have several samples and am just waiting for my ZL1 to arrive to decide. 3M has di-noc in flat and gloss and the new Scotchprint pattern which is glossy

the transformer edition faux is not a good match. it is too matt and a different shade/testure really. somebody may make something that is though I would just worry it would be kind of thick but I dont'have any samples or anything.

I don't think I will. I would like to do carbon spliter, spoiler other accents in real cabron though.

I saw that trasformer edition at the autoshow and I think I could have slashed my wrists on the ridge of the vinyl. it is like a 25ft mod. some will like it but right up close I don't see how anybody would think it was a clean look. then again I have seen people with crazy vinyl graphics on cars and they loved it. I think it is just not my thing for what ever reason.

IMO putting carbon fiber vinyl next to real carbon fiber makes it look awkward

I am sorry but I do not understand why you would put an obvious fake CF stripe on the roof and trunk to match the real CF on the hood. I must be missing something.
