Smile LS3 gasoline

Will the LS3 and L99 run on regular unleaded or is it mandatory that it use premium?

Everything has said Premium is 'Recommended', not mandatory.

It will work fine on Regular, but with a slight loss of mpg and power from what I've been told.

my gas prices are 3.55 for premium right now so i cant complain

but it has a knock sensor to tell when the fuel is lower octane so it knows to retard the timing so it wont damage the engine. so you can run any fuel you want in it (minus diesel unless your feeling lucky)

Your lucky, our regular is $3.69. I will be putting 93 octane in my Camaro for sure.

The HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) Use the LS3 engine in there new E Series and they recommende the 98 ron(octane) fuel .

Here what they said ''The use of 98 RON fuel is also now recommended over 95 RON. Thus the actual power increase is likely to be less than 10 kW'' (10 kw = 13.4 hp ) .

But i think they gonna make somthing to reduce the octan for the LS3 in the US .

premium is recommended. That means it is a recommendation. You could try running midgrade as a compromise

dont run e85 in it without getting a rebuild to change the seals. e85 will eat your gaskets and seals in the car causing major problems

I would love to convert my SS to E85 if I could get equal or better performance numbers. That would be fun at the track because some people are convinced that performance cars just can't run on ethanol.

Ditto, better to pay a few bucks extra at the pump then get hit with a damaged engine down the road. Not saying that it will happen, but the engine was designed to run on higher octane to ge the best performance out of it and why is it that everyone is soooo concerned about a few extra bucks at the pump? The car is gonna MSRP between 30K-35K (guesstimation) and is the price you pay for the car you decide to drive.
Just my .02c, but come on, it's a friggin hot rod, not a Yugo. ")

e85 is one of the best fuels to come out.

you need to do some reading on e-85 and not just listen to internet myths,, converted my equinox to e85 a few months ago and running great at $2.60 a gal.

i also had my v8 s-10 running on e-85 for a while and no problems, and it is over 105 octane for $2.60 a gal,, cant beat that
