I have the 1 7/8" american racing headers and they have the equal length tubes.

Did anyone here do the install themselves? If so how long did it take and were there any issues you had with using jacks as opposed to using a lift?

ive installed more than a few sets on the SS. which is basically the same, less the belly pan and extra support under. normal jacks work just fine. there is a ton of room on these cars unlike the 4th gens. easiest header install ive ever done.

Thank you for your response! As far as install time how long will these take. What manufacturer seems best? What does the size matter when picking headers? Will these bolt right up to the factory exhaust? Is there cutting involved?

It took me about 1.5 - 2 hours to remove my kooks and install my factory manifolds when I put my car back to stock. that was by myself in my garage. im not an expert but bigger is usually better, more flow. but it depends on what HP your planning on running, You would be fine with 1 7/8 with a close to stock car but will want a 2" header with anything crazy in mind. Kooks and American racing headers are the top brands in my eyes, I had kooks on my SS and the fit and finish is second to none. had pacesetters on my tbss, and nowhere near the quality of kooks. and most will mount right to the stock exhaust. As long as you buy the correct connection pipes(cats)

im going to give texas speed and performance 2" longtube headers when they are back in stock, basically because of the price.

Waiting for my Kooks 1- 7/8 headers to arrive. I have an idea on how to save the belly pan. Will post pics if it works

I've ordered the green cats and the Kooks 1 7/8 from Maryland Speed. I'm going to try to Dyno before and after.

Just received these today, Christmas came early. They are KOOKS 1 7/8 with 2000* black jet hot ceramic coating. Connection pipes are catless and also coated. I better get them off the dining room table before my wife gets home from work!!

That's a way better center piece than my wife's candles.
Post pics after they are installed.

KOOKS has a section on their website for recommended header size, up to 550 rwhp= 1 3/4", up to 650rwhp= 1 7/8", over 650rwhp= 2"

Canadian- Looks good! Your lucky they also coated the connection pipes for you. Maryland speed sent me the connection pipes uncoated and now I'm waiting for the headers to arrive from the coater

Does Kooks offer the ceramic coating or did you have that done by someone else?
