Seems like Chevy underrated their engines...again. Awesome numbers...that's only a 10% drivetrain loss.

Chevy doesn't rate their engines. They have them rated by SAE which has no inclination to under or overrate an engine.

The SS is SAE certified at 458hp, so right at a 10% loss.

I think the numbers are spot on. Another shop just posted a similar dyno sheet showing 414 Hp and 428 tq

Seems way under rated to me. That or GM has the most efficient drive lines out there. Seems more likely they would sand bag the test engines then over deliver.

455HP.

That's definitely the highest numbers we have seen for an auto so far.

Also for all the noobies joining, please take some time to understand SAE ratings, compare them to other engines with SAE ratings and their dyno outputs. Then understand, this is not the 90s anymore. 10-12% driveline loss is now the norm, even for autos. There is no underrating unless the manufacture chooses not to SAE rate their engines (like BMW frequently does).

Didn't someone dyno there gen6 SS at 399 or somewhere in that area, or was this the first? I think it was on a mustang dyno. Sorry, too lazy to do a search. Most driveline loss is usually between 12-15% loss, from what I've seen in gen5 Camaros. In any case...that is damn good numbers.

455hp is what Chevy calls it, but it's SAE at 458hp.

Yep it was the heartbreaker. Can't remember which shop it was...think they weighed it too. Everyone swears the Hellcats, Scat Packs, and the ATS-V are all underrated, until you realize each one has SAE ratings and similar driveline loss. Technology has just made them that more efficient than last generation.

Where are you getting that? No official document I have ever seen said 458.
