Good news for all you guys thinking you can't run because of the roll bar rules

In the current NHRA rules revisions for the 2013 NHRA Rule book!!


NHRA DRAGS: STREET LEGAL STYLE PRESENTED BY AAA (Page xiv) (5th paragraph)
Additionally Requirements and specifications for Street Legal are the same as those for the Summit Racing Series with the following exception: Unaltered 2008 OEM model year and newer production cars running slower than 9.99 and 135 mph do not have to meet the requirements and specifications for the Summit Racing Series except for the following: Convertibles and T-tops must meet Summit Racing Series Roll Bar and Roll Cage requirements, All drivers must meet the Summit Racing Series Helmet and Protective Clothing requirements.”

Simply what it says is if your car runs 10.00 (or slower) and slower than 135mph you do not need a roll bar unless the vehicle has a convertable top or T-tops than the old rule applies for them but the car has to be OEM stock and unaltered no mods. I'm confused, and how does this help me when I have a convertible???

If you have a convertible or T-top car the old rule still applies 13.50 is the cap on ET before you need a rollbar. 13.49 or quicker the bar needs to be installed. This is per the 2013 NHRA rule book.

Any clarification on rollbar requirements for verts on Autocross/Camarocross would also be appreciated?

I'm not familiar with what rules the group is using for the Autocross. The rules I posted are strictly NHRA sanctioned Drag Strip Safety Rules. If you are not Familiar Lucas Oil Raceway is owned by the National Hot Rod Association.

What ET's require other things like driveline loops, scattershields and such. What is requirement for helmets, what "standard"? Rating?

Slicks tech requires driveshaft loop. All drivers faster than like 14.0 requires helmet. . Clothing rules have not changed

Umm what kind of clothes do we need and are there hemets we can borrow from other people, and can a passenger be in the vehicle? I don't plan on riding real fast but would like to have a go round just for the experience and commoradorie. Thanks

Does that mean no convertible slower than 10.0 but faster than 13.99 without a roll cage can drag race at Cfest this year? That would mean no 5th Gen Camaro Convertible can drag race this year because all those convertibles fall in that group straight from the factory.
