Will be close. Both low 14s cars with good driving. You have the edge though, just don't botch the launch.

This might sound like a stupid question but does having traction control on take away any power when doing the quarter mile

I doubt the cobalt is stock. Probably has a smaller pulley and a tune. If so you lose. If stock you win if you don't screw up the launch. From a roll he'll take you.

my friend has a colbalt SS/SC thing is fassst.... went to the track he beat me by .01 but had a higher MPH... i was stock he was Stage 2 .. it was my virgin pass though Lol! 14.98 i know i could do better, and were going to be heading to a track soon... im not stock now (soon to be Vararam, DT Shorties thursday install, flowmaster axle back and barton short shifter)

no matter what are cars need an intake to go anywhere , i went from INJEN true cold air to stock for arrival on Vararam ... it SUCKS! anyways ill let you know how it goes, but from a roll there quick boost is up there!

I got walked at the track last summer by an SS TC driving my bro's L99. The TC Cobalts are stronger than the SC Cobalts though.

Cobalt SS S/C are slow. Before I had my G, I raced one in my 1998 Mazda Millenia sedan(4-speed automatic, albeit 3.81 gearing). We were dead even the whole way, we raced from a dig and from a 20 mph roll. I was expecting to get blown away, I honestly didn't believe it was an SS till I talked to him and saw his boost gauges(at which point a almost laughed my ass off, I thought it was a normal fully modded Cobalt N/A since he had removed all emblems). He was blacked out and had this loud lawn mower exhaust, it was on NW 39th expressway, saturday night cruise.

In other words....

You will walk him.

How did you have a modded STi and lose to an SS S/C ? They have a 5-speed manual, weigh 3000 lbs, and have 160-170 whp stock. I never claimed my old millenia to be quick, that's why I was so suprised at the results, in fact I think it's pretty slow. Though I beat a Challenger V6 in it(last dynoed 189 whp/ 195 lb-ft 6 years ago, used it as daily driver in college).

C'mon now... That made me laugh Though they are quite rare cars, I only see a 95-00 model about once every few weeks here. I hate the 01-02 models, they look like an Acura TL ripoff. They cost near $40k new and drive very well, you can buy a good low mileage one privately for $1500-3000, it's ridiculous how cheap they can be had for. I really pissed off the guy I beat in the Challenger V6(beat my friends 06 Mustang V6 too, you should've been there, he was about to punch a baby), afterwards he stayed behind me on the same 4-lane road for a good 5 miles before I turned left, he was zooming up on people and driving like a bat out of hell before hand. ANYWAYS, I say Camaro will walk the Cobalt, stock for stock.

They definitelyarent 160 hp stock. Gm sverely underrated these cars..the dyno stock in the 220-230's. How do I know? Spent 4 years on that forum
