Question Recommendations for decent winter tires?

I'm planning on getting a second set of wheels and some winter tires.

Anyone have any good and reasonably priced recommendations?

I live in Indiana and can't take the RS tires in the snow anymore.

I would like some help on this too... The different wheel sizes of the RS package have made it hard to figure out. I have found some snow tires and even snow run flats but the sizes leave a bit of a variation in size from front to rear and I haven't even found a single manufacturer that makes snow tires that fit the wheels. I have had to look at different brands... That being said I want to use my stock wheels for my snow tires and get new wheels for the summer to use my stock tires with. That is why I am trying to find snow tires that work on my stock stuff...

.
Firestone Winter Force on Heritage wheels cost me $750.00.

400 for tires and the wheels off Ebay.

I went with Bridgestone Blizzaks from tirerack - here's my thread asking for others experience and my install -

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...light=Blizzaks

They're very quiet, great wet & icy traction - haven't driven them in snow as I avoid travel on snowy/iffy days.

The Blizzaks are supposed to be the best, but I have no compliants with my Pirelli Ice/Snow. Whatever you get I suggests new or different rims, I don't want my MS rims all scratched up from the taking off and putting on of tires every season!

Went with the Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip on 18" rims from tirerack.
So far so good, she said it feels more solid than the Saturn Ion on all seasons that she used to drive.

Although we didn't try it out today..

I just got delivery of a set of 245/45-19 from Tire Rack, Pirelli Scorpion Snow tires on an aftermarket rim. $1100 total including freight seemed very reasonable. (Skipped the TPMS sensors and will live with the warning light...) Will take a picture after I've put them on the car.

Hope this helps!

Here's what the 19" wheels from Tire Rack looks like on the car. They did fit the SS - so far so good!
Just got them on, and now it's snowing outside so my timing looks good for once

lead foot and swede: I assume those weren't the original size wheels. Did you figure out a wheel/tire size combination that would mimic the original wheels/tires so your speedometer would read correctly or are you just dealing with the difference?

Nope the taller tread wall ends up with the same diameter so no speedometer issues.
Tirerack configured them that way.

P225/60R18 for my 18", probably P245/50R19 for 19"
