cam or 4:10 gears for more torque?
Car goes in on August 2nd for headers and dyno tune and I want to have either one of these mods installed at the same time.
What I am looking for out of this car is more torque gains than HP as I am not really looking for top end speed just more off the line punch . To put it simply I WANT THIS THING TO BE A TORQUE MONSTER. I will be doing one of these now and the other in the future but which do you think I should do first untill I go to step 2 in the unknown future? The sound of a cam is awesome but if the gears get me what I want than the cam will be in the next phase. Car is an LS3. Thanks everyone!

Cam first, just make sure to pick the correct one for your goals. A cam will make you way faster than what gears alone can do.

I installed my 4.10 gears a few days ago, and I'm glad i did that first, this thing is way quicker, and if i do a cam i can match it to the gears.

Gears. They are going to be what gets you off the line faster and away from that 2011 Mustang staring at you.

If you want to show more torque on the dyno go with a cam. If you want a significant throw your ass back in your seat experience go with the gears.
You should also consider upgrading your rear differential bushings while you have the rear end all ripped out to eliminate all the deflection. They make noticeable off the line difference on their own. We are about to add the Pdaft bushings as an option to our rear end gear package. |

Gears!
Like they said...you won't see it on a dyno but you'll see it at the strip and feel it from stop light to stop light. I agree with doing the bushings at the same time. Most of the labor is already done to get the rear end out for the gears. You might as well do the bushings while you're there.

Check on installation costs first, this is something you really want to do while your pumpkin is already ripped out for the gear swap. If you do it that way then it costs practically nothing extra, if you do it by itself its going to be steep.
