IDL Follow up: Gears / V8 Production / Orders

Here is some things I can share with you (from Chevy):

1. GEARS - Only the V8 with manual has 3.45, all other engine trans combo feature 3.27 ratio. (Confirmed)

2. PRODUCTION - I never said we were constraining V8's. I did say we were receiving a high number and may at some point have to visit a constraint, but never said we are constraining SS models. Who knows, we may have to constrain V6s to begin production. Only time will tell...

3. ORDERS - When will the first SOLD order be pulled for production? - Tough to say because there are many variables. What I can tell you is that we'll do a consensus in February for March production. After consensus, the allocation will be divided into weeks, and the first dealer order submission (DOSP) should take place by either Feb 19 or 26 -- but neither date is guaranteed.

I (Camaro Scotty) hope this clears up a few lingering questions that were remaining or that surfaced.

Fantastic information as always Scotty.

I'm glad to hear the SS information, the majority of us believed that to be the case originally I'm sure.

Now... if I could only remember the name of the dealer that posted that IDL video. I have a flaming bag of poop for them.

We appreciate your eagerness to provide this information. That's why you'll probably be my dealer when I move up north.

Uninformed (and hopeful) prediction:
GM will blow through all the v6 parts with the "one car per dealer" thing and end up constraining them for a while until it levels off. Until that happens, they'll be forced to build v8s almost exclusively causing v8 sold orders to be filled earlier than v6 orders.

no offense woot lets not set off another firestorm with random predictions.

also GM is going with a slow ramp up, i see no way they "blow through" all of the parts.

Thank you very much. 8 allocations, I am 6th, and only 2 SS's, I know I will not be one of the first but it's coming and that is all I need to know!

Scotty...will the first consensus be for the required V6 car plus whatever GM decides to give dealers (V6 or a V8 or maybe both for larger dealers) or will it be "open season" for the dealers to order whatever they want?

Thanks!

Not only that they use "on time" logistics meaning they don't sit on warehouses full of parts, parts are delivered daily. The only way there can be constraints is if they run low on engines, and considering the slow ramp up of the production line thats highly unlikely.

Good point. So that brings up the question of how they plan on building all the "one car per dealer" cars first then... are they going to be building v8 pre-ordered cars along side those? If so, I'll need to rethink my math in a previous thread as they'd be building double the cars I had thought of (assuming a 50/50 ratio as has been stated).
