Me vs zl1

So I've decided in not gonna buy my 3rd camaro ( the zl1) just keep modding the ss. So how much powe ( hp) would I need to compete with one at a strip or from a roll? I have full bolt ons and cam. 482 rwhp 465 torque. I kno I need more just how much?

I think they said the ZL1 dynoed from 510-520 rwhp lingenfelter before they started modding. you really are not too far off bud. Plus the magnetic ride made it a little bit heavier so your SS i believe is a little lighter. (I Think correct me if im wrong). Not sure what your wanting to spend but I feel if you did some sort of supercharger. Which again not sure which are the good ones are cause havnt done enough research but thats part of the reason i joined this sight to learn even if i dont have one... I like all muscle cars. Or maybe a 75 shot depending on what your looking for /w power gains. ( not gonna lie nothing better than the sound of a nice lopey cam)

Forge the bottom end, stroke to 427, supercharger, 1000hp axles, new clutch, new drive shaft.

Really who really knows until we see one run by real people at local tracks. to equal HP though you need to up yours about 50 to 60 HP.

I have 1 7/8's headers, mast motorsports stage 2 cam, full exhaust, cai, ported throttle body, and dyno tune. Thinking about ported heads for a little extra hp. Might end up switching to a blower cam and putting a whipple on one day

s/c would be the easiest way to surpass the zl1 rated output from where you're at now.

blower cam and whipple yep that would do it for sure I have a feeling after that their wouldn't be much competing with one more like passing very aggressively lol

ya thats true dont wanna blow er up. I am not sure what they can handle internal wise never checked it out. I do see alotta people supercharging though. Not sure how much of a pain in the ass it is for supporting internals or if there on stock ones. I figure if you dont hear of too many people breaking their engines its probley safe to say you might be fine. Its all in the tune I hear anyways. Gotta find a reputable tuner.

Actually i just got done reading a forced induction thread guy with a maggie with 8 psi supercharger hosed his car at 22k miles... but at the same time people have been able to run them without any problems. I think it might be a gamble if you do decide to do it make sure you have money saved to rebuild the motor with forged internals just in case it does go. Or just upgrade to forged internals first. I dunno, so you will have to keep us updated on what your decision is for sure!

Boost FTW.... do it, do it now lol...

but really, you put a blower and run low boost (6psi) and you should be waving goodbye to the (stock) ZL1
