Angry A SURPRISE when you pick up your CAMARO

Went down to the dealer today to see my baby and finalize everything, and to my SURPRISE an additional $400.00 was added to the list price???I was told that the Camaro is now being built with rear back-up audible sensors, and you have no choice but to pay for them,it was a memo sent to all dealers and it stipulated that the dealer was to contact the customer and no compensation was to be made by the dealer for this add on, simply put, if you do not want the sensors on your car, then G.M. will take the car back or the dealer can buy it.I called Oshawa from the dealers and the girls did not know anything about this, but the area rep. will deal with any issues you have.My salesman said that he will talk to his boss about some sort of compensation, but we all know where that will go!!!!Well My wife said on the good side is is a great option to have, but on the flip side I HATE SURPRISES!!!!!!

If that was added as standard on that model after you made the deal..... they eat it. They are being invoiced at new cost. This would be handled just like the paint change in April. They get an after sticker credit from GM..

I'm pretty sure there's something written in the small caracter of your contract to allow these kind of change, as this is now a standard feature.

hey go easy on the OP. As he said in his post...the GM letter to his dealer said they were supposed to contact the customers and let them know of the change in purchase price due to the new feature. I would assume that to mean contact the customer BEFORE they arrive to pick the car up.

$400 on a $36,000 car isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things. But the principle of the matter is still there. If you bought the car, and had an arranged price 2+ months ago, then show up and find they are adding on another $[insert amount here] for a feature that didn't exist when you ordered the car, and can't be removed if you don't want it...then yeah...that qualifies for at least griping and trying to get the added $$ removed.

It's not the guy who ordered the cars fault for not stalking online forums to know about this sort of thing. The least GM (dealer) owes the customer in a deal where the price is going to change is a "heads up" call. Ain't that hard.

Just sayin'.

You should be glad they didn't tack on a $5000 "Market Adjustment" on you. And believe me, we're not on the dealers' side--but just aware of whats been going on to others.
