For whatever reason, even though they're all made by the same company, Adam's and Megs are both firmer, and Mother's is softer and stickier. I prefer Mother's, but I don't hesitate to use any of them. They do the same thing. I'd go for whatever one is cheapest.

If Dallas, Texas is Japan, then you're correct. But since all clay in the USA comes from Clay Magic and they are based in Dallas, Texas, you would be incorrect. Don't take my word for it though, just look at all the lawsuits they have won against patent infringement.
Now their stuff might be "packaged" in Japan or China, but I haven't researched it to that level... yet.

We all learn from one another. That's why you ask questions. No one has all the knowledge.

Definitely not. Use detail spray.

MADE in japan.
Its printed right on the wrapper of every bar they ship to us and the reason we have this notice on our site: NOTE: Current US patents prohibit the sale of certain types of clay within the United States. These patents expire at the end of 2012 at which time Adam's will again have control over the choice of clay included with our kits. Until then all kits will include clay marked 'Made in Japan'. We apologize, but this matter is out of our control at this time and we look forward to bringing you domestically made clay options after 2012. It used to be they'd come unmarked sometimes, other times japan, sometimes USA... now its Japan only. We put that notice up awhile ago in order to be totally honest with our customers. Our policy is to do made in the USA only, but when it comes to clay we legally don't have an option right now. Automagic is actually owned by Illinois Tool Works (ITW) a massive fortune 200 company with massive manufacturing operations world wide. Odds are that they shifted all manufacturing to one location after their acquisition of AM in 2006 to reduce overhead. |

I must have some old clay then. Come to think of it, I don't remember the last time I ordered some. I haven't had to clay my car in at least that long and the clay I use only gets a workout on about a half a fender here and there. I definitely ain't busting out details on a daily basis.

I have used the Meg's bar and today I used the Adams bar, the Adams bar IMO seems to be a lot nicer, but from what I read above they are about the same?... The Adams bar is a LOT bigger, but the biggest difference I noticed, the MEg's bar with their detail spray kept stopping and getting stuck on the car, with the Adam's bar and their detail spray it slides effortlessly, and it pulls a lot of junk off the paint, i was amazed!!
