Are the scheduled plant shutdowns a result of the QC quarantine prior to actual release? I was under the impression that although a ZL1 may have been built, there's a period of time necessary to scrutinize every cubic inch of the car. I suppose this is an effort to debug before going into "mass" production. I'd rather CHEVY get it right from the get-go than to issue recalls after the fact. I have every reason to believe that Al Oppenheiser's TEAM wants to put "perma-grin" on each ZL1 owner's face... NO DISAPPOINTMENTS!
I just hope that I calculated the tangent/approach angle off of an expanded, representative profile photo of the actual car at curb weight with the coil spacers removed. If that's the case, it should be ~13°... the same as my Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 & that car wasn't a problem on real world streets. You still had to be careful of parking lot bumper blocks & judging distance, but that's no biggie. |

If the plant shuts down, does that mean that the QC will shut down??

I'm pretty sure the plant is getting shut down so they can QC the plant itself. I still think the cars will be able to go through their QC process prior to shipping, but nothing will be running down the line getting parts added to it.

It gets REALLY expensive to do a full shut down of a manufacturing plant. I can't see the lights going off and everyone going home for a week.

So we've got one confirmed new VIN this morning. Congrats to MYBADZL1 with #83!
I wonder if production was low yesterday with Rick Hendrick's visit. All I know for sure is I need therapy right now! I can't focus on work this week! |

Just curious... the 1st 69 ZL1s will be quarantined for QC evaluations, correct? How long does that take? Anyone know for sure? I've heard everything from a few days to 45 days.
Do you really think that the 1st 69 ZL1s will have a more collectible status than latter units? |
