Yeah. What are you doing to get only 13 mpg? But if that is what you are getting, and 150 miles is what you get between fill ups, well, that's what it is. Fill up.

Modern fuel pumps like the ones in the Camaro do not need to sit if fuel to be cooled.

Used to be true, though, but no longer the case.

Oh, and to the OP, it is certainly ok to not like features on the car, but you'll find pretty much every modern car has at least a low fuel light. GM trys to give you about a 50 mile warning. On the highway for example and not exactly knowing where the next station is this can be a nice feature, which is why it's on your Camaro.

Really? Can you explain when that changed? I am curious and still believed that the fuel was cooling the pump.... any info would be appreciated....

Just better fuel pumps. I've talked to some of our fuel system engineers to confirm this, but I didn't bother to ask about the specific material changes etc. that have made this a non-issue.

And not saying the fuel still isn't cooling the pump, but I am told it isn't required for durability of the pump itself.

This came up over a year ago in another post so I asked a few questions to get confirmation.

Now if you run a lot of poor gas and have sediment or water and run you tank low that's an entirely different issue.

Your millage, especially city, will vary a lot depending on where you drive. I have a 5 mile commute and sometimes stop at 10 or 12 lights some of which require a long wait. The LS3 might be pretty efficient with the transmissions these cars have but idling a 6.2l engine will always suck gas. The at the end of the drive I go up 6 stories of parking garage. Again I think my drive is not to bad and pretty normal for city because many of my friend here in Miami have it much worse, but I know that many people have different "city" drives.
Did anyone else get an laugh out of the second line? Lol.

Recall issue? What year was your dads truck? Reason I ask is I had my fuel pump go out at 66,000 miles on my 2004 Silverado 4x4 and the service guy said I ran the gas to low. Cost me $1,100.00 to replace it. I didn't bother to ask if was a warranty issue.

Right, if you play with your DIC you should get bigger not smaller.

I've never seen this 'low fuel warning light' you speak of... haven't let a tank of gas get that low so far!

Letting a fuel injected car (most cars since about 1985) run out of fuel is not good, but I am referring to knowing how many miles I have left so I can plan my fill up. For example, I choose not to buy gas at Citgo, for example, but I will if I have to to.

every late model GM i've driven has the light come on when you have 3gallons left. well my damn old 2001 Silverado's light would come on after i filled the tank but thats a different story.

if you do city driving it shouldnt be 30miles to the next station.

BTW you dont have to use every drop in the tank to make yourself feel like you are getting all you can of the gas. you know the gas that you leave in the tank is still there when you fill up

While all the others make excellent points about the fuel system, I actually do agree with you, OP. Normally, I gas up at 1/4 tank. But, recently, I had to make several trips with NO time to fill up. It's rare, but it happens. I was almost home and indicator came on. There is NO gas station where I was. So, I just went home. Following day, I forgot about the gas situation and was running late for work. I got in the car, turned it on, gas indicator came on, and I couldn't stop. But, I didn't know how far I had to go before running out. That was NOT cool. After work, I went to fill up, but had several miles to go before getting there. I wanted to KNOW how far I could go. It should come on and blink...then go off...and come on again at intervals. That's the smart way at doing it, IMO.

You seriously get only 200 miles out of a tank of gas?? Holy CRAP, man! I'm getting about 330 miles per tank. And, I do spirited driving.
