My paint seems to be fine, but we had to take my wife's car in to have the trunk repainted. It had several fish eyes in the paint.

A few chips on the gills but otherwise my paints good. Yeah it's a soft paint, they could have done better.

My paint is fine, none of the problems some have mentioned. The car has over 14k on it, so yes I drive it daily. Thus far I have no paint chips either... I believe I got a good one....

you guys that say your paint have all these defects keep in mind that GM probably has a list of standards that they go by. like lets say you have a fish eye, as long as its under a certain size its passable.
this is what we do for headlamps at the factory i work for. we have a list of QC standards signed by GM and our head QC people. just saying that defects you might find unacceptable might have been deemed acceptable. |

Well paint seems ok, no orange peel, few chips but she's a daily driver, clear bra on front has stop a lot of them, few on the rear quarter panels but thats gonna happen driving 80 miles round trip a day and all those damn water/oil trucks!

My car is IBM and I have not found one problem with the paint job. It appears to be different shades of blue depending on the angle you look at the car, but I believe it's suppose to be like this.
I also only have 2 small chips on the gills and I drive mine every day, 7,800 miles. No complaints here. M |

My wife told me last night that my camaro is a 20 footer. I said "what do you mean?". She said "It looks damn good from over 20 feet away."

I believe that Silver is the most forgiving. Also someone else mentioned it, but I put a Clear Bra on the front end and it seems to make a huge difference. Also makes the bugs come off alot easier.

If any of you guys watched the Amazing Factories episode detailing the Camaro assembly line, you'd have seen something that I couldn't believe that GM let get taped.
There was a flaw in the paint on the unit they were following. The guy at the plant took out a grinder/sander (whatever) and sanded off the clear coat to remove the flaw.......HERE'S THE BAD PART He then took a bottle of wax or a similar substance and buffed the area to restore the shine.....leaving the area with NO clear coat. NONE! And people wonder why the paint quality is touch and go? Tib |
