Too many headlight threads, still lost. i need help!
Hey to all my always reliable C5 experts,
I have non RS camaro looking to up my headlights so i can apply my headlight armor to them as I have done to my tailights. I need something brighter and crisp, I was going to order DDM HID kit but after doing some research on the forum they seem un-reliable. I dont care to have the halo option just something brighter, what does each of these offer/cost/differentiate AAC DDM TheRetrofitsource thank you! |

All I can personally say is that I have a retrofit source hid kit and it works perfectly and looks great.

If you put HIDs in a halogen housing without a retrofit/projector it is illegal due to the glare.

So your trying to tint but don't want to lose visibility, correct? Well if that's the case just buy a 35w h13 hid kit. I've dealt with both ddm and retrofit and they are both good. I would prefer retrofit as they have better customer service and their shipping is ridicously fast.

The problem with running an HID light in a non-HID housing is that many times they have a tendency to throw light all over the road and blind oncoming traffic. You can run HID's in your stock housing just make sure that you adjust the headlight so you are not blinding oncoming traffic. Some housings halogen housings you can get away with running them with little problems, I installed a set of my father Honda Accord and it worked perfectly, the light goes where it's suppose to and never once had a problem with oncoming traffic.
Those aftermarket lights you have posted could have the same problem with it comes to HID's in that if the projector is not made for it you can again blind oncoming traffic or actually be dimmer then what you have now. So before you pull the trigger on it I would check with the manufacture about the lense and if they have any experience with them using HID's. I am not a DDM fan either as they can be super unreliable and know MANY people who ordered from them and ordered different tempratures of lights and every single one of them look the same no matter what. Plus when confronting DDM they gave some poor excuse about why they did would not return further emails when pressed for more answers. You get what you pay for especially when it comes to HID's. WOW thank you for the time and effort in giving me a great reply AAC is great.
f the HOD will give me some visibility with the head light armor on i would go with that, if not the AAC HID will be in my cart... However It quoted me at about 80 dollars for shipping. which seems pretty hard for just some lights. |
