Remote Start?
I have a 12 V6 stick shift. I know the factory remote start wont work with my car but does anyone make a remote start that uses the factory key less entry buttons so i dont have to have two remotes to carry around.

Wondering the same thing. I was told the factory one may be possible. If you find anything out please PM me and let me know. I have the SS manual an wanted a remote start but didn't want the extra remote. Just want my key fob.

There is a thread on this already. It may answer your guys questions. I would advise against it tho. Very unsafe with a stick. You may be ok with it but if your car goes in for service it could spell disaster. FYI

I've had remote start on stick cars for years. They certainly have come along way from the laser sllignment in neutral days. The GOOD ones these days are fail safe. No worries. Don't currently have one yet but its on my list. I believe compstar or compustar is the name. Best out there .

I didn't think you could do it on a stick, learn something new everyday.
Hope it works out for ya. |

I read about it here. It sounds like a nice option and I know some of the good kits have fail safes. I just wouldn't take the chance.

There is a reason the factory does not install a remote start on a manual transmission....MASSIVE LIABILITY!.
I don't care what the aftermarket manufacturers tell you about their failsafe features, it just takes one time for the car to be left parked in gear and the failsafe doesn't work....BAD NEWS. It can happen, and has happened before. Best bet would be to not put a remote start on a manual transmission car. |

I actually install car stereos remote starts etc for a living.. and I actually have one on my 2011 6 spd... if you go with a Compustar unit you will be fine.... there is absolutely no way the car can start if you do not follow the sequence before getting out of the car. if you have any questions about it just PM me

Wow lots of wrong info in this thread.
The above post is 100% correct about compustar. Most Viper systems also have a manual transmission mode. You mentioned you wanted to retain use of your factory keyfob to start the vehicle, you can do that with what's called RSR (Remote Start Ready) and a DBALL. They're products from the same company that makes Viper, Directed Electronics. The downside to RSR is you're restricted to the range of your factory keyfob. http://www.xpresskit.com/rsr.aspx |
