Ceramic Brakes for 2014
Just took a look at the ceramic brakes that are going to be an option or standard equipment on some models in 2014. This is Ceramic Rotors and Pads. This will sure cut a lot of weight on the Camaro. If it is an option just wonder how deep you will have to reach into your pockets.

Too much and it doesn't cut that much weight off of a car. If you take into consideration the difference between steel vs carbon then add the 6 piston calipers , a difference of about 15-20 lbs isn't much of anything. To drop weight of the car, brakes are the last option IMO. Besides, cc brakes are too expensive unless your purpose is to track it.
If they have cc brake option it'll be about $9-12k with the calipers included which GM would include.

But the weight that you would be losing is also unsprung weight which is more beneficial than losing the same amount of sprung weight. Less rotating inertia which helps in both accelerating and stopping.

The ones they put on Audi RS6's cost $10k. Doubt these will be much cheaper.

On a $35,000 car I couldn't agree more. The brakes (which lets not forget are a consumable item) would run 30%-ish of the cars value. The economy of scale is slowing bringing them down market but they are not to the point that they make sense on these cars just yet. Give it another 3-5 years.
