Will the 5th gen aftermarket prices fall?

The 6th gen is right around the corner and I was wondering if the prices in the aftermarket world are going to drop for our 5th gens? Example would be a set of headers might be $100 to $200 cheaper now that these companies are focusing on the LT motor or maybe suspension pieces going for cheaper prices than normal.

I doubt it. The prices have stabilized at this point. We may see a few fire sales or while supplies last on a few items but the 5th Gen platform + LS engines are extremely popular and I'm sure the aftermarket will be here to start for some time.

Not as long as they can still get away with gouging us.I have always wonderwd how long the "R&D"......excuse me, how long it takes the machine that does all rhe R&D on headers, takes to pay off. Its a game.....and as long as we are willing to pay, the price will stay.

Simple example of Supply and Demand. As long as we demand the products, then we'll have to pay the premium price. And once Supply starts dropping, i.e. shops load up on LT related products, in theory the price point would actually rise. Not saying that theory always holds true in reality, but I wouldn't expect the prices to drop just because their is a new game in town.

In time they will come down but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

As long as the parts are popular, the prices will stay what they are now.
Why would there be a price drop?

It could very well go up. I am reluctant to get some mods, especially those that requires a tune due to warranty. When warranty is no longer an issue, which will be in a few years time, many might go mod crazy.

Give it ten years. 5th gen aftermarket might come down by then.

Maybe.

seriously doubt they will fall that much if at all, exception would be a small company making the transition to carrying items for the 6th gen and needing to thin out stock to make room for new products, those will be very limited and short in duration.

Historically, parts for the most common engines, trans, etc. are the cheapest. Mopars, Buicks, Olds, all were more expensive to build than SBC and SBF. Since the Gen V ran only six years, items specific to it may be clearanced soon and then start climbing in price as they get harder to find (Year One actually created a business buying truckloads of OEM muscle car parts manufacturers were getting rid of). Parts that can be used on other platforms won't be affected much by the halt of Gen Vs, e.g. engine internals, superchargers, etc. Used parts will get cheaper as more cars head for the bone yard, but the best pieces quickly become known and go for a premium. There are millions of LS based engines out there so there will always be strong aftermarket support, but parts will never get as cheap as SBC and SBF as those engines were built for decades.

There is only a $50 difference between 4th Gen Kooks headers and 5th Gen. In other words no don't count on it.
