pink, you might be. I order I love the car and I understand all the safety regs, legal regs, and cost considerations, that led to the changes. But the Concept was amazing!!!!
To be honest, I think the side view is the production camaro's worse view point (and it still looks good). Still very happy with the car but the concept was sick! |

I think GM should be congratulated for coming out with a production car that is so close to it's original concept. If you watch the NBC special "Saving GM" you will see some of the reasons why the production version could not have the same roof line as the concept.
I spew more tough love on GM then anyone else and I can tell you that I am incredibly impressed how they were able to stay true to the original concept. If only they had dumped that mail slot.......

IMO, althought the concept was nice, we were fortunate to have the soon-to-be production model as close as it is. I have not done a lot of research on this, but I can think of quite a few concept cars, where the production model looked absolutely nothing like the concept.
That being said... think of the concept as "permission to let the designers do whatever they want". First thing I noticed is the doors. I'm glad they shortened them. Otherwise we would have another version of the --mid to late 70's Camaro & Firebird-- 150 lb. sagging doors. Second... talk about blind spots. Not to mention, I'm 6'4", doesnt look like I could even sit in the concept. And last but not least... the production model just looks "less fragile" then the concept. |
