Protection Plans and Extra Vehicle Coverage

Just wondering what protection plans you guys are going with for wheels, extertior, interior, etc? My dealer has 3 plans but I don't think I want to use theirs. My main concern initially is going to be the tires and rims. Any suggestions?

I won't be going with any extra protection plans. Not worth the money on a new car IMO.

Im going with the 84month / 84000 mile GENUINE GMPP warranty.

It adds 4 YEARS to the Electronics, including MR Shock system! Imagine trying to pay for that. Plus all the other bumper to bumper items... A/C compressors, etc etc etc... If you can get this coverage for $1400 approx wouldn't it be worth it?

Now, on the driver train, you are adding TWO YEARS assuming you don't put over 84,000 miles on this beast. So 2 extra years on the drive train on top of the above 4 years extra coverage seems most valuable to me.

PS: The $1400 is approx employee price on the plan if you can get it. Only $100 deductible.

It includes roadside service, is the GENUINE GMPP WARRANTY, not a third party. The third party explicitly void racing issues. They may not be as flexible as GMPP! Just saying..

Now, The GMPP does NOT include ROAD HAZARD.... (i.e., blowouts, rim damage... I am looking into that elsewhere.)

SHOP IT!!

I have Geico insurance and they offer mechanical breakdown coverage. It covers you up to 7 years or 100,000 miles with $250 deductible. You can also wait 15 months to add the coverage. It's something worth looking into as I'm sure other carriers offer it. Plus you don't have to lay out a large chunk of money.

There are seperate plans for the car (extended warranty) and for the wheels/tires.

I normally go for the extended warranty simply because of Murphy's law.
Murphy says that if you DON'T get the extended warranty, then bad things will happen. However if you DO get the extended warrany, you'll never have to use it.
Go figure.

Considering how much the wheels and tires cost these days especially for a ZL1, I'd look into getting the Wheel/Tire coverage. I looked into it when I ordered a Vert last year, ISTR that it was around $800? but I don't remember for how many miles. It DID cover pretty much any type of damage including curb rash.

Labor rates are going to continue to go up and with all the complex systems on this car, I think a long look at the GM warranty is worth it.....if you plan on keeping the car for 3 plus years that is :-)

Isn't the GM warranty the same price for the first year or 12,000 miles?

If you choose to get the GM extended warranty, you can choose your own coverage both in mileage and months. I went with the full coverage extended warranty for 5 years and/or 100,000 miles. I think it ran somewhere around $1,400.00 ??
