It is not a ridiculous statement, computer showed zero oil pressure 3.75 seconds into the run 6.78 @ 206 mph. The motor went 1 more round before we were eliminated. This event happened at the 07 Street Car Nationals in Las Vegas. Say what you want but this event happened.

Mobil 1 is a REAL synthetic and is 100% synthetic. Do you really think that the 40+ vehicles they fill from the factory is a bro-deal or some sort of contract? These auto companies have to warranty all of their vehicles and they wouldn't use some sort of fake oil in their vehicles just to have to fix them because they oil doesn't perform.

Want to know the real truth - go search and find out where Royal Purple and Amsoil buy their base stocks from. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. Small companies like RP and Amsoil are that way for a reason, if they made a better product they would sell more of it and be as big as Mobil 1 is - not mixing it in bathtubs behind their corporate offices like they do now.

The facts are all out there for everyone to see, F1, Le Mans, NHRA, OEMs, nobody even comes close to Mobil 1 achievements, research or facilities to make the best oil on the planet. These statements you just made are misleading and unfair to this community. Ask racers at your local strip, circle track or other racing session. When they build motors and use oils like Amsoil, Royal Purple, Eneos, they have to rebuild their motors more times in a season than with Mobil 1.

Also, to hit on additives. You can't just drop a pack of zinc, etc into your oil and expect it to actually mix in your oil and work. 100% of the time the additives end up on the bottom of your oil pan where they stay, doing nothing for your motor and clogging up oil pickup lines, etc.

Opinion is great and healthy for discussion but don't post things that are totally biased and obviously produced by some small oil company with the intent of misleading others. It's not cool.
Sounds like you've got an axe to grind, and appear to be somewhat biased. What's your connection to Mobil 1?

Wow 86 posts, we need a sticky with a poll so items like this oil can be quickly referenced and you can just buy what got the most votes, can't go wrong that way.

all 4 of those are great oils in their own right. I've used them all in various vehicles (all but redline in my 94Z). I prefer to use RP and a wix filter myself. not because of the marketing, or the hype, but because in my personal experience and after sending numerous samples off to blackstone labs, RP and a wix filter proved to be the best combination for me.

some cars do respond better to different oils.

case in point, a good friend of mine has an 04 GTO, had been running $2 dino oil in it from the first oil change. he swapped to Mobil 1 and took it straight to the dyno and lost 7 hp and 9tq across the board.

went home and swapped back to dino oil.

(he's also very compulsive about his mods.... changes the clutch, takes it to the dyno, changes the tire pressure, takes it to the dyno, changes the air filter, takes it to the dyno, etc...)

Has anyone used a magnetic collar ot their oil filter, or a magnetic drain plug. I changed the stock drain plug to magnetic with first oil change (100 miles) found some (small amount) on second oil change. Mostly wondering if anyone has tried the magnetic collar and if seen any difference on magnetic plug.

It cant hurt to get a magnetic drain plug from magneticdrainplug.com and magnetic filter wrap just for the heck of it...

As for the oil filter, Royal Purple came out with a filter with white sythetic filter media, it looks good idk http://www.royalpurple.com/index.html# i run K&N now
