Not to jump off topic or anything, but I am curious to know what kind of hp/tq this new aluminum block will be able to endure. I'm thinkin' the price will increase ever so slightly. IMHO of course.

Not sure about the Camaro but the 4.6 block used in the Mustangs is rated up to 1,000 hp. I'm sure the Camaro block will be right there as well.

You could also search Griggs suspension for mustangs. There's kit's out there that can are on par with zo6's. Next year the Shelby is getting an aluminum block and should be lighter then the z/28 and get better mpg. This will make the GT500 handle even better. Yes the SRA is is bummer but isnt a deal breaker for for me. The Camaro handles better on bumpy streets but the GT500 is better going fast on smooth surfaces and more fun according to Motortrend

Obviously for an extra $10,000 it's going to be the better performance car lol.

These were not stock when tested. You may claim "well, the gt500 had more hp, but the camaro beat it."...yes, that's true, but the gt500 also has crappy tires on it. If it had any sort of decent tire on it, it would of done much much better. It also says that in the magazine.

If you want the one that is quicker...easy answer...GT500.

if you want one based on looks, that's up to you.

How so? I'm sure they were stock besides all the equipment on it to film the show. Wouldn't make any sense to mod those cars in a Best Of Test, considering you could mod any of those cars to make it better than all the others. And didn't the GT500 beat it around the track? I could of swore the GT500 got a 104.x and the SS got a 105.3 or 105.7...

What kind of quarter mile E.T.s will the GT-500 turn stock? I was thinking hot rod had one that went like a 12.67 ??? Ive heard that the crys for limited traction on them but i encountered the same thing when i ran a 12.62. Yes ive changed my fluids and filters but its stock. I will admit i like the blower whine but not for the 13 THOUSAND dollar price difference. If it really has 114 hp more than my camaro where is it?

MM&FF magazine ran 12.6@115mph during the press release at un-prepped Sonoma raceway in poor windy conditions and 11.95 @120mph at Englishtown in cool weather on stock Goodyear's and 11.50's same car same day just swapped a set of MT E/T streets.

When you ask others you are going to get biased opinions, a lot of which is based on misinformation and personal likes and dislikes and none of it should affect your choice.

Anthonybyram is absolutely correct. Try 'em both. Which one lights your fire? If you still can't decide, look elsewhere. No matter what people say on the Camaro and Mustang sites, there are a lot of other nice cars available to the enthusiast.

Remember, you can always add an after-market suspension package if you want the Camaro to handle better than the stock Mustang. So don't base your choice on magazine comparisons.

Regarding the post about the 4.6 being capable of 1000 HP; Not on stock internals. 500 at the crank is considered the safe max. That's why Roush et al can offer drivetrain waranties with 435 RWHP and as long as you don't touch their tune.

Anyway, good luck with your choice.

Cheers.
