Thanks man. My car is full weight, stock converter and an unopened motor, my car would be considerably faster if I stripped it, added a cam and a stall, but I`m happy w/ what I have, runs and drives like stock, runs 10`s..

I think its possible to get a stripped L99 w/ a big stall into the 10`s but it would take a cam considering the weight diff between the Camaro and the Mustang.

Deki,
Aren`t the 5.0`s able to tune the valve event effectively changing valve duration ect? more or less like adding cams in a sense?

Bolt on best before blower 12.22@113.29 w/ nothing but ARH headers, catted x-pipe, ADM CAI and a tune on stock Pzero`s!

They are but you are still limited to the 11mm lift

Ive owned an auto 11 5.0 and now a 12 L99
The low end torque in the 5.0 is lame especially with the stock tune and 3.15's. The auto 5.0 felt weaker from a stop and a roll (sotp) stock but was actually a little quicker.
As far as the flat spot/low end thing, you'll find the L99 more satisfying there.
If all you care about is going fast at the strip get the 5.0. Big gains with a tune.
To me the auto 5.0 was more boring, less comfortable and not as good looking as my L99.

My Brother has a 2012 GT. It's a fast car but the ride is a lot worse than the Camaro. Very harsh on bumpy roads.

Holding the valve open longer allows for more cylinder fill, even if lift doesn`t change, I made similar power in my LT1 TA to Ls1 v8`s by running more duration than them but less lift. The worked stock casting LT1 heads wouldn`t flow at as high a lift levels as the LS1 heads, over .550 didn`t produce any addnl flow numbers to speak of on the LT1`s, so we just kept them open longer. More lift than stock of course but the extra duration allowed for similar cylinder fill. So I would assume its like running a small cam w/ the tune to increase duration in the 5.0`s. So add a small cam, since we can`t tune duration, weight reduction, big stall, fatties and skinnies, I bet someone could make a go for the 10`s w/ the L99. Just not me no more stripped cars, massive stalls and fatties and skinnies for me. that was in my younger days...see avatar pic

Traded my 2013 GT for an SS. I had both and like the camaro better despite the mustang being quicker. Camaro comes with better breaking system and other equipment. Mustang is not a better built car, trust me. It's more of a boy toy. Camaro is more mature. The GT 500 is a different animal though. My 2 cents.

If ride quality is a huge factor get the Camaro, on curvy roads with bumps in it the Stang's rear gets squirrely

WoW thank you guys for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

You opened my eyes on very important bits in the Camaro other than speed.

Let me see what my dealer has to say
