Finally received cnfirmation from my dealer!

Thanks to everyone on the forum, especially the dealers and employees that keep us educated. I hounded my dealer for several days last week because they didn't see their consensus number for some reason.

Anyway, I cut and paste some verbiage from the site and had them contact their district manager and "sweet success". Mine will be here soon.

Here is the latest email exchange:

Chris,

We got one and yours will be the first one for the store.

John

John,
What did you find out from the district manager?
Here is something another dealer advertised:
What do you know about this info and dates?

CONSENSUS= 2/6/2009

"Chevy dealers all across the country have access today to their March Consensus. For those who don't know what Consensus is, it is the report that Chevy sends to their dealers showing their estimated shipments of vehicles they can order for the following month's production period.

So what does that mean? Basically it means that dealers know now how many Camaros they have been initially allocated by GM. Camaros that are ordered for this consensus period will be produced after March 15th.

Dealers can always ask for additional Camaros for the next week, but it is rare that GM provides any additional units than what they initially allocate. Consensus is open for dealers until next Friday (2/13) at which time they must commit to their orders. We then find out the following Wednesday (2/18) what has been approved by GM."

Dude! I'm right across the river in Waldorf, MD. Looks like you'll get yours before me, my dealer didn't get one for March. At least I won't have to suffer seeing you driving around!

Maybe you should be a product trainer.

Either way, thanks for educating us about the car and the process; we can be very dangerous at times with all this knowledge.

I think they actually ended up just calling the district manager because I wouldn't take "we're not sure" for an answer.

Here's another question that has been beat to death but I'm still not sure about: If my dealer sells to me at supplier (military pricing), do they get anything from GM or do they take the loss themselves?

I do not want to short change my dealer because they have been great and promised me the #1 spot, however, getting the discount would be nice.

Worst case : MSRP minus GM card earnings cap.

Thanks for any info.
