Autocrossing my 1LE, Video Inside!

Another Great day racing yesterday! I feel I'm really starting to get a hang of the car. I managed 1st in class, and finished 6th in PAX out of 65 drivers. The car is very predictable, and I'm loving the electric assist steering, makes the car feel not so big. This was my 2nd to fasted run, but he only run I had the camera mounted on my helmet.

Here was my fasted run of the day, and I finally got a new external mic that records in stereo.

Nice driving! Still on the stock rubber or did you go with something else?

Still running the stock tires. They seem to be good as long as you get a little heat in to them. I can tell you on the first run about half way through the course I could tell when the front tires started working, like someone flipped a switch.

Looks like fun to me. We did our very first autocross yesterday with the 1LE. Had a whopping 500 miles on it when the first run was made. Started slow with a 62.4, ended run 6 with a 53.7. Had a blast. Would include vids, but damn Youtube was going to take 7 hours to upload just one vid from the GoPro. Need to figure out a faster way to upload a 1min video.

Nice runs Lee. Can't wait to run with you again. I think I'll try to make the event at Grissom on the Sunday you'll be there. I don't feel like spending 2 days there.

I will be at Grissom on Sunday as long as rain isn't in the forecast. Funny, I would pray for rain with the Subaru.

You won't see me there either if it rains. Cooler weather and rain combo equals going sideways ALOT.

Hey guys, I want to try autocross. Do you run stock brakes or should I upgrade? It seems like a short course; what is the approximate top speed? Also, I'm not scca licensed. Do I need an instructor with me or something?

Stock pads for autocross will be fine. Some courses only have a top speed of 60 or so and others can get in to the 80s depending on the car and driver. You do not need to be an SCCA member to autocross but it's cheaper if you are.

I'm using the harness now and loving it. My first event was just the three point and it was tough staying planted in the seat, but no problems now.

Here's one from this past weekend.

Cool, yeah it makes a big difference not having to hold on to the steering wheel for stability, those belts glue you to the seat.
