I have this one...works good, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g1020 (enough clearance to get under my SS lowered 1.25").

I got it in Jan., and have used it on 3 of our vehicles for various repairs/maintenance. Some complain about leaky quick-release connectors, but they only "leak" a few drops if you disconnect them, otherwise not a single drop. I was lucky and didn't even have to bleed mine. It lifts pretty quickly and will take you longer to position them.

I've used the tall lifting blocks on 2 of the cars, but on the Z/28, I only used the low blocks. The other cars I mentioned were unibody, too, so I just put the blocks under the pinch weld at the rockers for lifting points. The blocks didn't deform at all, nor did the pinch welds, even though I had one car in the air for a few weeks. While you *might* be able to do the same with the Z, I didn't want to try it since the ground effect pieces are pretty much flush with the pinch welds. Instead I used the flat part of the undercarriage near the torque boxes, as recommended for a 2-post lift.

The cars sit super-stable and I've had no qualms getting under the other 2. I'm a pretty big guy, so the tall blocks are needed for me to be able to work under the car. I think I'd roll the Z/28 onto a 2x4 for when I need to use the taller blocks on it to actually be able to get under it easily, although I bet I could do an oil change as it sits on the lower blocks.

Here is are 2 pics of when I first tested it on my wife's car. The lift is wrong-side out (safety bar should be on the outside), but I was excited to try it out after she tore up the front facia of her car backing out of the driveway. That's a 235 width tire next to it for reference, btw. If you look carefully, you can see the handheld orange controller in the foreground and the unit itself on the other side of the car.

My Z/28 is still in the air (sans wheels), so if you would like me to take anymore pics or measurements, feel free to ask.

If you used some pinch weld jacking adapters, the car would be a few inches higher, and if you used the taller 3" blocks (pictured), that would add to the height, too. Keep in mind that the measurement below is to the bottom of the ground effect piece along the rocker - the actual underside of the car is higher. I'm pretty sure I could do an oil change as it sits now, however, but it would need to be higher in the air if I was installing headers, for instance. It DOES make quick work of doing brakes/tires/wheels, and for what I've been doing, which is extensive detailing.

Chimazo, thanks for the pictures and info. I also am leaning towards getting a set of these instead of trying to dig up the floor to put in fottings to add a 2 or 4 post lift. Plus not sure I like the idea of the post in the middle or all around the garage more chance for door dings or banging my head. these are simple and portable.

I went through the same decision issue regarding a 2 or 4 post lift. The cost of the lift is just the beginning. If you need footers, raising garage door runners/opener, installation & delivery, etc...

The QuickJack is a compromise that I am good with for now. It is easily portable and you *could* keep them under whatever car you have in the garage in their lowered position and pushed together, or just tilt them up on their side and against a wall. They're a little unwieldy, but not horrible, and they have small wheels on one end to assist.

I don't know if I am allowed to post a link to where I got mine (http://bigboysgaragetoys.com/index.php?p=home), but the owner, Scott, was very responsive and helpful.

I'm slightly stupid. I thought I had the lift at the higher setting and that the car was sitting lower because I wasn't lifting at the pinch weld and I'm using the smaller blocks. The QuickJAck in my pics is at the LOWER setting. The red circle puts the lift at 13", while the blue circle indicates the higher setting which will put it at 20" (higher if using the taller block). Sorry for any confusion!

members have to be careful lifting just one corner up real high, better to use 2 jacks or the fancy lift that is shown on this thread.
