Etch Marks

I found an etch mark on my car after bird shit sat on it for less than 8 hours.. I washed it and put 2 coats of wax on it to prevent it from happening again. Didn't work. I have cleaned off at least another 7 loads, 6 of which left marks in the clear coat AFTER 2 wax jobs. I have had two black f-bodies prior that did not have any issue like this. I find this a bit unacceptable.

If you can't get those spots out with polish try claying it, Bird shat is some unforgiving shtuff, search Zaino, or get some maguires clay and polish and put a few coats of polish on then hit it with a their best wax NXT I think it is.

Wax. Two coats of Adam's Polishes Butter Wax. Would a coat of polish before the wax add protection?

It should get rid of the etch marks. Then you can use a sealer wax.

Somebody correct me if im wrong. But unless it has a wax in it there is no sealing in it in polish. Polish has abrasives in that for the most part sand out and blend things together. Now if it were me I would wash it with Dawn soap and then clay bar it then use a clean wax this should do it.

Hence getting rid of the etching with polish,THEN using a sealer wax.Clay bar is prep for polish.

Here's my take on this matter:

Option #1 is wetsanding and then compounding with a Rotary polisher.

Option #2 is to remove the defect by removing the layer of paint or clear coat that contains the stain or spot. This is best accomplished with a professional circular polisher , a compounding pad and an abrasive polish like a compound. You literally abrade away the top paint or clear coat until the spot or stain is gone. This is the probably only way to remove a stain in the clear coat (minus wetsanding) and the only way to remove an acid-etched pit or spot.

Hopes this helps out.

This is something a professional needs to do.Doing that can turn out to be real bad in the wrong hands.

Yes, a professional should be the one doing this. But it does work.

Now my turn........ What " crap " did they paint these cars with?

I have never seen paint disappear like this before. These cars will look like shit in no time at this rate.
