L99 Lifter noise at startup

Well I have 4k on my car and a week ago at initial start up I started getting a slight lifter tick for about 2 seconds. This happens only after sitting over night. I informed the service manager of this and his reply was these engines are notorious for being loud at startup Isn't this a new engine? Just wanted to ask around before I start pushing the issue. Its obvious the lifter/lifters are bleeding down but so soon come on. By no means do I baby my car, it is a performance car so I perform it.

Normal to rattle a bit on startup.

Nope, but my Silverado does sometimes when I use a crappy Fram oil filter. You could have a bad drain back valve in your oil filter. Use a Mobil1 K&N or PurolatorOne filter and see if it stops.

Just had the car serviced by GM so whatever they use. It did it before and after. Can't imagine a brand new motor doing this.

Then it's just lifter noise. No big deal. It stops a few seconds after your oil pressure comes up. Perfectly normal.

Interesting. You would think such an advanced engine would not do this. Even if its only a few seconds its still doing some damage.

I wonder if a tuner can prolong initial crank. That should solve any lifter tap. Anyone hear of this as an option?

Mine started the noise just after I got it. Took it to the dealer, and they said it's normal. It does it cold and hot. It's not good when you start it up with a group of your car club and it does it. "I thought it you said that was a new car". My 07 Suburban does the same thing. The Suburban is getting so it does it longer and longer. I guess that's what they make warrenty for. It's just embarrassing for a new car.

I'm used to lifter noise, I couldn't tell you right now if mine does it. No big deal.
