I've heard this was more of a problem in the 2010 models. Is this true??

Yes thats the word and mine is an early 2010, bought in Nov 2009. And yes the L99 have a higher volume pump than the LS3. I've read that the L99 pump is GM'S high performance pump equivalent to the Melling. Who knows?? I'm going with the L99 pump.

yeah I know it sounds crazy but that seems to be the case. L99 pumps are better than the LS3 pumps.

I have yet to hear about a L99 pump failure. If anyone knows of 1 post it up especially a stock internal car that could not have been installed wrong with a cam upgrade.

The only reason im not changing mine out with my cam is because that's what the word on the street was, but if anything does break after my cam i will be going melling for sure. Sometimes its good to own an automatic! Lol

Hey it's not an early 2010 anything! Those were just internet rumors stock Ls pumps have been failing since 1998!
Yes there have been NO L99 pumps reported. YES the flow more volume needed for the VVT and DOD. We L99'rs use 8qts of oil lol.
