One thing I've noticed on that car....which seems to get faster all the time...is that the Wheels/Tires have been change. I'm assuming that is for two reasons 1. Lighter wheels for better un-sprung weight 2. Ability to get some drag radials or street slicks.

My question on that is...don't the brakes have to be changed out? From what I remember the 20" wheels are necessary to clear the Brembo brakes. I thought I saw somewhere that you had to swith to the 4th Gen brakes in order to get the smaller wheel?

Is that correct?

I thought I read that they switched to the non SS Camaro brakes. In other words they are still from a 2010 Camaro but not from the SS just the regular Camaro.

I have also read that you could go to the C6 18" wheels on the 2SS without shaving or changing the caliper.

David you are correct I read somewhere that the Z06 wheels will fit over the brembo's. any other smaller diameter wheel and the brakes have to be switched for 4thgen brakes.

im curious just whats the difference between 5thgen and 4thgen brakes when it comes down to statistics ?

New to cams and all. . . but what would make a Cam - not so street friendly?

The erratic lope or others call it the "cam rock" and a sudden drop in idle like say your in traffic car could stall from stop to go without giving it much gas. Just some things I know others can chime on this as well

The overall design of the cam is going to change how the engine runs. Computer controls have greatly effected how we can use a much larger cam than in years past but they can still get 'to big'.

A camshaft effects when the valves open, how long they open, how they open. Since it is a mechanical item some things can not be 'tuned out' like the power range of the camshaft.

Going to a larger cam (extreme case) can lead to a very high idle, low RPM bucking or surging, and a flat low end power range that would make the car slower in all cases but high RPM WOT runs.

This is why it is always best to choose a cam for your particular needs and wants as they are all different.

Finding a good tuner can also make or break a great cam, so make sure they know what they are doing if you are not doing the install or tune yourself.

I don't see any components for DOD delete so I assume it would be more for the L99 folks? How about a price for VVT delete also since it would require additional components to wotk on the L99? Also, I don't see head gaskets or lifters in that list either so how much would those items run.

Are the stock LS3 lifters good for that cam? Would the lifters that are not DOD from the L99 also hold up to that cam?

Very nice result, Anthony!! Well I see these data are very similar to what you announced to the Vette crowd when the LS3 was introduced. I remember the sound of the LG demo car at Petit lemans back two years ago, awesome !!

So... food for thought ! As you know I'm getting a Camaro... I expect it around Xmas (nice gift ) straight from Florida

So, you have now long tubes for the new Camaro ?

Cheers

Patrick

The DOD delete kit is $795 and includes gaskets, bolts, lifters, cam gear, timing chain tensioner, valley cover....everything you need to bring it back to 'normal'
